Job description

ARTIC Technologies is a young, dynamic company developing advanced microscale fluid control solutions inspired by nature. Our first focus is to enable scientists create to better models for preclinical drug testing by offering a user-friendly platform for cell culture. This platform makes cell culture models more human-representative and increases their reproducibility, without compromising ease of use. This saves time and costs in drug development, while ultimately reducing animal tests.

Spun off from Eindhoven University of Technology, we use Magnetic Artificial Cilia (MAC) technology to move and control fluids with high precision. These tiny, nature-inspired hairs enable gentle, contactless fluid flow, which is ideal for complex in-vitro models.

We believe advanced technologies can contribute to a world where both human and the planet thrive. That’s why we are dedicated to transforming disruptive fluid manipulation technologies from the lab into real-world solutions.

Why this role matters

At ARTIC, we are developing a dynamic and scalable cell culture platform that enables more predictive in-vitro models for drug development. As our technology moves from development and validation towards broader market adoption, understanding the needs of our customers and building strong relationships with them becomes increasingly important.

As our Business Developer, you will help us identify where our technology can create the most value. You will engage with potential customers and partners, understand the challenges they face in their current workflows, and work closely with our CTO and R&D team to explore how ARTIC's technology could address these challenges.

This is not just about selling a product. Especially at our current stage, business development means listening carefully to the market, building long-term relationships and translating what we learn into decisions about our product, applications and commercial strategy.

It is a great time to join ARTIC. You will work in a small, ambitious team where your experiments, observations and ideas will have an immediate impact on both the technology and the company.

Tasks

Your focus will be on engaging with potential customers and validation partners. This includes:

  • Researching, identifying and approaching potential customers and partners within CRO, pharmaceutical, and academic organizations.
  • Building relationships with potential customers and understanding their current workflows, challenges and unmet needs.
  • Following up consistently with potential customers and developing early conversations into concrete opportunities for collaboration, validation projects and commercial partnerships.
  • Working closely with our CTO to discuss customer conversations, identify relevant technical questions and determine how ARTIC can best support potential customers.
  • Connecting potential customers with the appropriate technical expertise within ARTIC and ensuring their questions are followed up effectively.
  • Systematically documenting customer conversations, needs and commercial opportunities and sharing relevant insights with the team.
  • Maintaining an overview of the business development pipeline and supporting prioritization of commercial opportunities.
  • Participating in conferences, partnering events and other relevant industry events for customer discovery and relationship building.
  • Supporting business and market strategy development.
  • Supporting the discovery and evaluation of new applications for ARTIC's technology together with the technical team.

Of course, you will not be doing this alone. You will work closely with our CTO and CEO and collaborate with our R&D and application teams to connect market needs with the development of our technology.

What success would look like
  • Strong relationships with relevant potential customers and partners, combined with a clear understanding of their workflows, challenges and unmet needs.
  • Customer conversations progressing into concrete next steps, such as technical evaluations, validation projects, pilots or commercial opportunities.
  • Potential customers receive useful and professional support, even when the best solution to their question does not directly come from ARTIC.
  • Customer and market insights are effectively documented and translated into actionable input for product, application and commercial strategy.
  • A well-organized and actively managed pipeline of relevant commercial opportunities.
  • Effective communication and collaboration with colleagues involved in business development, strategy and R&D.
Requirements
Required qualifications
  • At least a Bachelor's degree in Life Sciences, Biomedical Sciences, Pharmaceutical Sciences or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of relevant business development experience within the pharmaceutical, biotech, CRO or life-sciences industry.
  • Demonstrated experience developing relationships with industry customers and translating customer needs into commercial opportunities.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with both scientific and business stakeholders.
  • Ability to understand scientific and technical concepts and translate them into relevant customer value.
  • Strong organizational skills and a structured approach to managing customer relationships, follow-ups and opportunities.
  • Fluency in English.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally to conferences, customer meetings and other industry events.
Strong advantages
  • Business development experience with CROs and/or companies working with New Approach Methodologies (NAMs).
  • Experience or a strong network within preclinical drug development.
  • Familiarity with ADME/DMPK, drug permeability or immuno-oncology.
  • Experience working with emerging technologies, scientific instrumentation, research tools or other enabling technologies in the life-sciences industry.
  • Existing relationships within pharmaceutical, biotech or CRO organizations.
