A leading international logistics provider is seeking a dynamic Branch Manager to take ownership of its Amsterdam Air Freight operation. This role is ideal for a commercially astute air freight leader who enjoys building high-performing teams, strengthening customer relationships, and driving profitable growth within a fast-paced international environment.
Situated at one of Europe's most important air cargo gateways, the Amsterdam branch plays a key role in supporting multinational customers with import, export, time-critical and specialist air freight solutions. The Branch Manager will be responsible for setting the direction of the station, developing the local team, and ensuring the branch achieves ambitious commercial and operational objectives.
What You'll Be Doing
Drive Business Performance
- Develop and execute the annual branch strategy in line with national growth objectives.
- Increase revenue, gross profit, and market share across key customer segments.
- Identify new commercial opportunities within industries such as life sciences, technology, aerospace, perishables and high-value cargo.
- Build long-term relationships with customers and act as an executive sponsor for strategic accounts.
Lead a High-Performing Team
- Manage and develop a team spanning operations, customer service and sales support.
- Create a culture focused on accountability, customer service and continuous improvement.
- Coach and mentor team leaders and emerging talent.
- Drive employee engagement, retention and succession planning.
- Establish strong relationships with airlines, handling agents, and strategic logistics partners.
- Negotiate and optimise capacity agreements to support branch growth.
- Work closely with gateway and procurement teams to maximise profitability.
- Represent the company at industry events and within the local cargo community.
Oversee Service Delivery
- Ensure customers receive a consistent, high-quality service across all air freight products.
- Monitor operational performance and implement improvements where required.
- Drive efficiency through process optimisation and performance management.
- Support the successful handling of priority, project, dangerous goods and temperature-controlled shipments.
Branch Financial Ownership
- Take full responsibility for the branch's financial performance.
- Deliver against agreed revenue, GP and EBIT targets.
- Produce accurate forecasts and business plans.
- Identify opportunities to improve productivity and control costs without compromising service quality.
What We're Looking For
- Significant experience within international air freight forwarding.
- Proven leadership experience managing a station, branch, gateway or air freight business unit.
- Strong network within the airline and air cargo community.
- Successful track record of growing revenue and profitability.
- Experience managing branch budgets and financial performance.
- Strong people leadership and stakeholder management skills.
- Commercially driven mindset combined with operational credibility.
- Fluent English language skills; Dutch is advantageous but not essential.
