Job summary

Cosun is seeking an R&D Technician to work in the laboratory and pilot plant environments, supporting process development, scale-up activities, and product innovation. The role is hands-on and full-time, with collaboration across scientists, engineers and international colleagues.

Responsibilities include preparing experiments, running USP/DSP trials, contributing to SOPs, performing analyses, operating lab equipment, documenting results, and proposing process improvements within a modern R&D

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Preparing experiments and ensuring required materials, equipment and test setups are available.
• Executing lab and pilot-scale experiments related to Upstream and Downstream Processing.
• Contributing to method and SOP development.
• Performing analytical measurements and supporting relevant testing.
• Operating and monitoring bioreactors, centrifuges, filtration systems, homogenizers, separators and other lab equipment.
• Documenting experiments, analyses, observations and trial results accurately.
• Interpreting and communicating results to R&D Scientists and Process Engineers.
• Providing ideas for process and method improvements.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organized lab environment.
• Supporting maintenance and calibration of lab equipment, materials and inventories.

Are you someone who enjoys hands-on experimental work and is curious about how innovative (bio)processes and food ingredients are developed and optimized?

As part of the broader R&D team at Cosun, you will collaborate with scientists, engineers, and international colleagues. You will work mainly in the laboratory and occasionally pilot plant environment, supporting process development, scale-up activities, and product innovation projects. It is a very hands-on technician job that requires one to be in the lab fulltime.

What do we expect from you as an R&D Technician?

Your responsibilities will include:

• Preparing experiments and ensuring the availability of the required raw materials, equipment, and test setups.
• Executing laboratory and pilot-scale experiments, primarily related to Upstream Processing (USP) and Downstream Processing (DSP) activities.
• Contribute to method & SOP development,
• Performing analytical measurements and supporting relevant analytical testing when required.
• Operating and monitoring process equipment such as bioreactors, centrifuges, filtration systems, homogenizers, separators, and other laboratory and pilot plant equipment.
• Accurately documenting experiments, analyses, observations, and trial results.
• Interpreting and communicating results to R&D Scientists and Process Engineers.
• Contributing ideas for improvements in processes, methods, and ways of working.
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and well-organized laboratory environment.
• Supporting the management, maintenance, and calibration of laboratory and equipment, materials, and inventories.

Qualifications

• At least MBO+ or HBO degree in Food Technology, (Bio)Process Engineering, Laboratory Technology, or a related field.
• Internship and/or work experience in a laboratory, pilot plant, bioprocessing, biotechnology, food, or industrial production environment.
• A hands-on mentality and strong interest in experimental and process development work.
• A structured and accurate way of working, with attention to detail.
• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
• A proactive mindset and the motivation to actively contribute ideas and solutions.
• A good command of English (spoken and written).

Additional Information

• A full-time gross monthly salary between €3.800and €4.600, depending on your knowledge and experience.

• 23 additional leave days (ADV).
