Job summary

New Balance is seeking an HR Generalist to provide effective HR support across multiple South Europe countries, covering corporate and retail environments. This hands-on role acts as a first point of contact for managers and associates, coordinating with the Territory HR Manager to ensure fair and compliant HR practices across countries.

The role requires fluency in English and Spanish, knowledge of employment law, and experience in multi-country or matrix settings.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in an HR advisory/generalist role in a fast-paced, service-driven environment.
• Fluent in English and Spanish (written and spoken); other European languages are a plus.
• Knowledge of Spanish employment law is advantageous.
• Experience working in multi-country, retail, or matrix environments is highly desirable.
• Solid understanding of employee relations and HR processes and practical policy application.
• Working knowledge of employment law in at least one country within the territory; willingness to expand.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder relations.
• Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Proactive, hands-on and solutions-oriented mindset.
• Discretion with confidential information; professional conduct.
• Systems proficiency; Workday/HRIS and MS Office knowledge is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Act as a first-line advisory support for managers and associates on HR policy, procedures and day-to-day queries.
• Coach managers on employee relations matters including absence, disciplinary, grievances, maternity/paternity, and flexible working requests.
• Ensure fair and compliant HR practices across countries within the territory.
• Manage employee relations casework end-to-end per guidance from the Territory HR Manager.
• Oversee onboarding and offboarding processes in collaboration with HR Operations.
• Support training sessions on HR policies and procedures with the Territory HR Manager.
• Maintain accurate HR data in systems like Workday and ensure data integrity.
• Handle shared HR inboxes and provide timely, quality responses.
• Assist with probation reviews and compliance tasks (Right to Work checks, documentation).
• Maintain up-to-date HR documentation and associate-facing materials.
• Support routine HR reporting and data analysis on metrics like absence and ER cases.
• Contribute to HR projects and wellbeing initiatives; support process changes.
• Monitor sickness and absence trends and provide guidance per local laws.
• Provide cover for office management when required.
