Job summary

PwC Nederland is seeking a Backend Developer to build and improve AI-enabled digital products used by colleagues and clients. You will translate designs into working software, deliver end-to-end features, and support testing, deployment and continuous improvement.

You will join a hybrid team based in Amsterdam and/or Utrecht, collaborating with backend, frontend, design and product ownership to deliver scalable backend services and integrations using Python, Django or FastAPI, REST APIs, and

Qualifications

• Minimum of 3 years of software development experience.
• Bachelor's level of working and thinking in a relevant field.
• Strong knowledge of Python with Django and/or FastAPI.
• Solid backend, REST APIs and SQL databases.
• Experience with AI, LLMs, or agentic solutions.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Familiarity with Git, pull requests and code reviews.
• Experience with Docker and containerized environments.
• Experience mentoring peers on development practices.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Knowledge of security best practices and development standards.
• Ability to independently deliver features from functional designs.
• Good analytical, communication and collaboration skills.
• A proactive mindset and comfort working with changing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Develop backend functionality for innovation products, primarily with Python (Django and/or FastAPI).
• Translating designs and user stories into working software.
• Delivering features end-to-end, including testing and deployment support.
• Building and maintaining components, APIs, integrations and backend services.
• Integrating frontend components with backend APIs and data services.
• Writing clean, secure, maintainable and scalable code.
• Writing unit tests and supporting integration/regression testing.
• Performing peer reviews and contributing to overall code quality.
• Supporting troubleshooting, bug fixing and performance improvements.
• Identifying technical risks, dependencies and improvement opportunities.
• Contributing to CI/CD, DevOps practices and Agile/Scrum events.
• Documenting technical decisions and implementation details.
