Job summary

Booking.com is seeking a Software Engineer within the IT Services Development team to design, implement and maintain internal tools and integrations enabling Booking.com employees to stay mobile and productive across brands.

You will work on provisioning, data synchronization, benefits program management, and office systems, using Java/SpringBoot, Mulesoft, Kafka, React, and related technologies in an agile environment at the Amsterdam HQ.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years in IT industry.
• Minimum 3 years software development experience.
• Strong knowledge of Java / SpringBoot.
• Good understanding of Mulesoft, EDA, MOA, SOA, SOAP, REST APIs, RESTful, RPC/RFC, Kafka and integration patterns.
• Experience with Mule 4.x and CloudHub 1.0 (CloudHub 2.0 a plus).
• Exposure to large architectures from monoliths to distributed microservices and event-driven designs.
• API-led design using RAML/OAS and API lifecycle observability (Graphite, Grafana) is a plus.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build software applications, automations, and integrations using relevant languages and tools.
• Create template solutions for complex integration cases and translate business needs into integration solutions.
• Maintain and support existing integration interfaces.
• Draft technical designs and implement solutions.
• Own a service end-to-end, monitor health and performance, and set metrics.
• Identify and resolve live production issues within SLA.
• Evaluate architecture options considering cost and requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, systems, and performance.
• Drive automation or new features in reliability tools.
• Communicate clearly to audiences using appropriate channels and language.
