Job summary

Albert Heijn is seeking a Backend Developer to join our Stores cluster in the Netherlands. You will help reinvent our tech landscape by building greenfield microservices in Kotlin and Java, using Kafka for event streaming, and collaborating with product teams in an agile setup.

The role offers hybrid work from Amsterdam and ongoing opportunities through AH Tech Academy. Expect 5+ years in backend development, solid knowledge of cloud platforms (Azure/OCI), and a passion for scalable, secure

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Backend development in a complex corporate technology environment.
• Broad technical knowledge including Kotlin/Java, Microservices, Spring, Cloud (Azure and OCI), API and non-functional requirements such as scalability and security.
• Nice to have Oracle PL SQL knowledge.
• Knowledge of event streaming and messaging platforms (Kafka) is a plus.
• Knowledge of Agile and strong English communications.
• Location in the Netherlands is expected.

Responsibilities

• Build a greenfield microservices architecture on Kotlin for the Stores Cluster.
• Develop technical solutions aligned with systems and business processes.
• Develop proofs of concept, write code, implement automated testing, ensure security and quality, and promote best practices.
• Enhance technical standards and guidelines.
• Collaborate within a product team, participate in agile ceremonies, refine stories, deploy code, and support production.
• Share expertise and contribute to initiatives within the AH Technology Platform.
• Develop the team’s skills and processes to deliver value quickly.
