Job summary

Voys is looking for a backend engineer to join its Product Development team in Groningen. You will write backend code that businesses depend on, taking features from first idea to production with peer reviews and real customer impact.

You will work in a multidisciplinary scrum team, owning features end-to-end, and participate in a hybrid setup with a Groningen office focus. The stack includes Python, FastAPI, Django, PostgreSQL, Redis, NATS, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD.

Write backend code that businesses across eight countries rely on every day, with the room to own it from first idea to running in production.

You've got some real code behind you. You know what you liked about that first job, and you've got opinions about what you would do differently. Now you're after a place where you can go deeper, take on more, and get properly good at this. This might be it.

Your journey at Voys

Our Product Development team builds the tools that help businesses run their customer conversations across phone, chat, and other channels. You will join a multi-disciplinary scrum team and start writing backend code that real customers depend on, not tickets handed down a conveyor belt. You'll pick up creating real features early on, with colleagues who pair with you and review your work as you go. You'll take features from a fuzzy first idea all the way to production, then stay close to them once they're live: building, testing, shipping, and fixing what breaks.

What we're looking for:

• You are eager to learn, fast. It's something we greatly value.
• The fundamentals of programming are in place: you can find your way around an existing codebase, and you've written code that other people relied on.
• Curiosity that goes further than "it runs". You dig into how things actually work.
• Coachability: you take feedback and act on it, and you're not afraid to admit when you don’t know something.
• The ability to explain your thinking to someone who isn't a developer.
• Based in or willing to move to the Netherlands, and up for being in our Groningen office regularly. Juniors here learn fastest in the room: pairing, reviews over the shoulder, picking things up by osmosis.

It's a bonus if you:

• Have worked in Python.
• Have shipped something for real users, at work or on your own.
