Job summary

Us3 Consulting in Amsterdam seeks an experienced Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer to manage and optimise the AVD environment, ensuring high availability, security and an optimal user experience.

You will work closely with Application, Intune and DevOps teams to automate deployments, maintain images, and implement disaster recovery strategies while delivering reliable desktop experiences for users.

• Configure FSLogix profiles and RDSH policies; coordinate with Intune for OS/app updates.
• Maintain SOPs for AVD operations and design DR solutions.
• Work with DevOps to automate AVD deployments and tasks.

We are looking for an experienced Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) Engineer with in-depth knowledge of VDI technologies, in particular Microsoft Azure Virtual Desktop.

This role requires hands‑on experience in management, deployment, and troubleshooting, as well as strong collaboration skills to work effectively with Application, Intune, and DevOps teams.

The ideal candidate will play a key role in managing, optimising and automating the Azure VDI environment, ensuring high availability, security and an optimal user experience.

Key responsibilities

As an Azure Virtual Desktop Engineer, you are responsible for the end-to-end management of the AVD environment.

Your main tasks include

• Manage, monitor, and administer Azure Virtual Desktop environments through the Azure portal and third‑party tools (Nerdio)
• Configuring AVD settings and deploying new Azure and AVD functionalities
• Analyzing and resolving end‑user problems with virtual desktops and applications
• Provisioning new Host Pools and Session Hosts based on business requirements
• Managing existing golden images and creating new images on demand
• Collaborate with application teams to solve application‑related issues on golden images
• Configure and manage FSLogix profiles and Remote Desktop Session Host policies
• Coordinate with the Intune team for Windows OS and application updates
• Maintaining and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for AVD operations
• Design, configure, and manage Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions for AVD
• Working closely with the DevOps team to automate AVD deployments and operational tasks
