GeekSoft Consulting is seeking a senior data architecture leader in the Netherlands to design, build, and continuously evolve client online platforms. You will drive research and adoption of cutting-edge technologies, aiming for high resiliency and availability while guiding cross-functional teams.

With 8+ years in data architecture/engineering and deep Fabric expertise, you will define target architectures, governance, and KPI standards, oversee CI/CD, and mentor engineering and analytics teams

Qualifications

• 8+ years in data architecture/engineering with Azure data platforms.
• Expert in Microsoft Fabric components: OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Pipelines.
• Experience defining target state Fabric architecture and tech roadmaps.
• Standards for OneLake, Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, Pipelines, Notebooks and KPIs.
• Medallion Architecture across Bronze-Silver-Gold; data ingestion, transformation, quality.
• Guidance on Fabric-native vs existing Azure data services; scalable enterprise platforms.
• Data ownership, governance, security, privacy, GDPR and data stewardship.
• Strong data modeling, lineage, metadata and reporting governance.
• CI/CD, Git, release management, automation; environment management.
• Leadership, mentorship; collaborate with stakeholders and analytics teams.
• Experience with Power BI, semantic models, and reporting governance.

Requirements

• 8+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or enterprise Azure data platforms, with strong Microsoft Fabric architecture expertise.
• Strong expertise in Microsoft Fabric components, including OneLake, Lakehouse, Data Warehouse, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, and Semantic Models.
• Define and own the target-state Microsoft Fabric architecture, including the supporting technology roadmap and architectural strategy.
• Establish architecture standards across OneLake, Lakehouses, Data Warehouses, Data Pipelines, Dataflows Gen2, Notebooks, Semantic Models, Power BI, PySpark, SQL, and Azure Data Factory.
• Design and govern Medallion Architecture patterns across Bronze, Silver, and Gold layers, covering data ingestion, transformation, quality, and consumption.
• Provide architectural guidance on adopting Microsoft Fabric-native capabilities versus existing Azure data services.
• Design scalable, secure, maintainable, and future-ready enterprise data platforms.
• Define and implement data ownership, governance, security, privacy, compliance, and data stewardship frameworks.
• Establish a trusted single source of truth through standardized data models, KPI definitions, and business metrics.
• Improve data quality, data lineage, metadata management, and reporting consistency across the organization.
• Drive CI/CD, Git integration, release management, deployment automation, and environment management best practices.
• Lead platform optimization initiatives covering performance, scalability, workload management, and capacity planning.
• Drive data platform modernization and migration initiatives from legacy and on-premises environments to Microsoft Fabric and Azure.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders, enterprise architects, security teams, data engineers, and analytics and reporting teams to align platform investments with strategic objectives.
• Provide architectural leadership, technical guidance, and mentorship to data engineering, analytics, and reporting teams.
• In-depth knowledge of Medallion Architecture and enterprise data ingestion, transformation, modelling, and consumption patterns.
• Hands-on understanding of PySpark, Python, SQL, Spark SQL, and Azure Data Factory.
• Strong experience with Power BI architecture, semantic modelling, standardized KPI definitions, and reporting governance.
• Expertise in enterprise data modelling, data integration patterns, APIs, and data platform modernization.
• Experience defining and implementing data governance, ownership, stewardship, security, privacy, GDPR, and compliance controls.
• Strong understanding of data quality, lineage, metadata management, and master/reference data concepts.
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Git, CI/CD pipelines, release management, and deployment automation.
• Knowledge of performance optimization, workload management, scalability, and capacity planning.
• Excellent stakeholder management, communication, architectural documentation, and decision-making skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Purview and Microsoft Fabric governance.
• Knowledge of Azure Synapse Analytics, Azure Data Lake, or Databricks.
• Experience establishing enterprise operating models for data platforms.
• Proven experience leading large-scale data transformation and modernization programmes.
• Relevant Microsoft Azure, Fabric, Data Architecture, or Power BI certifications.
