Job summary
Maastricht University invites applications for a Postdoctoral Researcher to advance autonomous crop monitoring and decision-support systems for Controlled Environment Agriculture, focusing on non-destructive plant sensing, data integration, and validation in greenhouse and vertical farming contexts.
Based at the Brightlands Future Farming Institute in Venlo, you will work across plant science, engineering, and data science, collaborate with DACS and Sensor Engineering, and contribute to teaching
Qualifications
- PhD in a relevant field such as plant science, crop science, or engineering.
- Demonstrable research experience in crop modelling, plant sensing, or data-driven crop management.
- Experience translating research into practical applications and collaborating with academic/industry partners.
- Excellent command of English; Dutch is an advantage.
Responsibilities
- Develop sensing and modelling approaches for CEA systems.
- Deploy and evaluate non-invasive canopy sensors and spectral sensing.
- Collaborate with Sensor Engineering and DACS in an interdisciplinary setting.
- Contribute to teaching within the MSc Crop Biotechnology and Engineering.
