Job summary

JR Automation, a Hitachi Group Company, is seeking an Applications Engineer II to develop competitive automation solutions for the Holland Division. You will translate customer requirements into cost-effective concepts, own cost estimation and proposals, and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

The role supports hybrid or onsite work, requires 5+ years in automation, and involves mentoring junior engineers and occasional travel up to 20% to customer sites and company locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field; two years of experience per year of study.
• Five+ years of automation, machinery, or related technical industry experience.
• Hands-on experience in applications engineering, quoting, and customer interaction.
• Proficiency with CAD software including SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA, Visual Components.
• Strong MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop thorough understanding of customer specifications and pain points.
• Interact with customers during definition of machine requirements and proposals.
• Generate conceptual automation solutions using CAD tools when no standard solution exists.
• Develop cost estimates, risk assessments, cycle time analyses, and flow diagrams.
• Prepare and participate in internal/external quote reviews with concepts, costs, risks, timelines.
• Draft clear proposals defining scope, production rates and requirements.
• Support Account Managers by including customer pain points and competitive advantages.
• Provide cross-functional technical support during quoting and early projects.
• Mentor junior engineers, co-ops and interns.
• Travel to customer sites and company locations up to 20%.
