Job summary

ING in Amsterdam is seeking an Audit Manager to lead complex audits covering Market Risk Management and Treasury across ING’s global organisation. You will assess end-to-end risk processes, governance, controls and regulatory compliance, and translate technical observations into clear audit messages.

You are an experienced professional with strong analytical and communication skills, able to work in international teams and travel for international audits as required. Hybrid work is offered.

Job description

The Corporate Audit Services (CAS) department conducts and coordinates operational audits across ING, including specialist audit coverage of Market Risk Management, Treasury and related financial risk areas. As part of this team, the Audit Manager plays an important role in providing independent assurance over market risk and treasury activities across ING’s global organisation.

In this role, you will contribute to and lead complex audits covering both trading book and banking book risk management, including market risk, counterparty credit risk, valuation, Treasury, liquidity and funding risk, capital management, ICAAP and ILAAP. You will assess whether risk management practices, governance, controls and regulatory compliance are effective, sustainable and aligned with ING’s risk profile.

We are looking for someone with a strong background in market risk management, ideally gained within a major bank, financial institution, consultancy firm or audit environment. You bring a proven track record in analysing complex risk topics, challenging stakeholders and translating technical observations into clear audit messages.

As an Audit Manager you are an experienced professional and subject matter expert who contributes to the delivery of high-quality audits and audit strategy. You may be involved in several complex audits simultaneously and are expected to lead on content, provide specialist input and help formulate key messages for auditees and senior management.

Your responsibilities include:

• Performing and leading audits across Market Risk Management, Treasury and related financial risk topics.

• Assessing end-to-end risk management processes, governance, controls, models, methodologies and management information.

• Reviewing the design and operating effectiveness of controls over trading and banking book risk management.

• Identifying key risks, defining audit scope, developing audit testing and formulating clear, evidence-based findings.

• Challenging management in a constructive and professional manner.

• Communicating audit outcomes clearly to stakeholders.

• Sharing specialist knowledge with audit colleagues and supporting the development of team members.

• Contributing to audit planning, continuous risk monitoring and the development of CAS expertise in market risk management.

The team

You will be based in Amsterdam within the Market Risk & Treasury audit team, working in hybrid mode between home and the office. International audits are performed jointly by local audit teams and central specialists. The team is part of the CAS Risk & Finance Division, a professional, international audit organisation with teams across the globe.

Your profile

Furthermore, you:

• Have an academic degree, preferably supplemented by a relevant professional qualification (e.g. FRM, CFA, PRM, CIA or equivalent).

• Have preferably more than 8 years of relevant experience in market risk management and/or internal audit within a major bank, financial institution or consultancy firm.

• Have solid knowledge of market risk processes, risk measurement, trading products and the regulatory environment for market risk and financial risk management.

• Have experience with one or more of the following areas: trading risk, counterparty credit risk, valuation, ICAAP, ILAAP, funding and liquidity risk, capital management, IRRBB, CSRBB or Asset & Liability Management.

• Have a good understanding of internal audit processes, including risk assessment, scoping, control evaluation, testing and reporting.

• Have proven communication, influencing and advisory skills, with the ability to obtain buy-in from senior stakeholders.

• Are organisationally sensitive and effective in managing challenge, disagreement and conflict.

• Are willing to travel where required for international audits.
