Poelmann van den Broek advocaten in Amsterdam seeks an associate with a Dutch Law degree (civil law focus) and at least five years of construction-law experience to join our ambitious team. You will handle litigation and advisory matters and grow your own client portfolio.
You will collaborate with colleagues across practice areas, translating knowledge into practical, actionable advice for a broad range of construction projects. Proficiency in Dutch is essential, and AI affinity is a plus.
Our Construction team consists of six construction law attorneys, one legal associate specializing in civil law, and two team assistants (legal secretaries). Together, we assist our clients with construction projects of all sizes—from small to large, from single-family homes to residential neighborhoods, and from roads to wind farms. We advise on contracts and contract drafting, forms of collaboration, tenders, and general terms and conditions—including the UAV, UAV-GC, and DNR—and represent our clients in disputes. Our clients include medium-sized and large contractors (including several from the top 20 in the Netherlands), contractors specializing in building systems, suppliers of construction products, and developers.
In addition, we focus on current topics such as the energy transition, circularity, AI, and smart buildings, and we help our clients navigate new regulations.
After your orientation period, during which you’ll get to know our firm and our clients well, you’ll begin working on your own cases and building your own client portfolio. You’ll be immediately involved in our litigation and advisory practice and will be part of an ambitious team. You’ll also collaborate with attorneys other practice areas, such as project development.
We like you to excel, so you get to do the work you're good at and enjoy doing. You translate your knowledge into practical advice. This is rewarding work, because you notice how happy the customer is when they can immediately proceed with your advice. Although you recognize problems, you always think in terms of solutions. Very varied and dynamic. You can count on help: your colleagues will be happy to spar with you.
You have a degree in Dutch Law, with a focus on civil law, and at least 5 years of experience. Your analytical skills and judgment are well-developed. You’re a team player who is passionate about the construction industry. You’re also interested in the technical aspects of the field. You’re creative, curious, and committed to delivering quality. That’s why you’ll feel right at home with us—because we’re all committed to achieving the best possible results for our clients. Perhaps you have a business-minded approach and the ambition to advance your career? You’ll have opportunities to grow with us, and the possibilities are endless! Of course, you must be able to express yourself excellently in Dutch, both verbally and in writing. Additionally, an affinity for using AI is a plus.
With us, you can make the most of your talents. That is why we have developed a talent management program. This program gives you the opportunity, even if you already have a lot of work experience, to continue to develop. Together with your 'buddy' you regularly talk about your ambitions and development questions, and of course you have the opportunity to follow courses and training. We will gladly help you with that.
We realize that everyone is different. It is precisely these differences in people and approach that we see as added value to our organization. We are curious about your talents.
