Smith & Associates Europe B.V. seeks an attorney with a Master of Law and 2-4 years of post-qualification experience to join its international legal team in Amsterdam.
You will draft, review, and negotiate commercial agreements, advise on trade compliance, sanctions, and ESG matters, and support cross-border transactions across EMEA. The role requires strong commercial judgment, excellent English, and the ability to collaborate with colleagues across jurisdictions.
Draft, review and negotiate commercial terms and conditions of sale and purchase and quality; Assist in gathering context with business partners so that transactions can be drafted accurately and efficiently; Advise on trade compliance matters, including import/export controls, economic sanctions, restricted-party screening, and related regulatory requirements. Provide guidance on supply chain compliance, product compliance, anti-bribery and corruption, ESG, and other regulatory matters relevant to the electronics distribution industry. Partner with our traders, buyers, and business leaders across EMEA to provide pragmatic and commercially focused legal advice. Monitor legal and regulatory developments and assess their impact on the business. Collaborate with legal, compliance and business colleagues globally on cross-border transactions, strategic initiatives, and corporate projects. Independently manage a broad range of legal matters involving multiple stakeholders and competing business priorities.
Master's degree in Law (LL.M. or equivalent). 2 - 4 years of post-qualification experience gained in an international law firm and/or in-house legal department. Experience drafting, reviewing, and negotiating commercial agreements within an international business environment. Strong commercial judgment and the ability to balance legal risk with business objectives. Interest in, or exposure to, compliance matters such as trade compliance, sanctions, supply chain compliance, ESG, and anti-corruption. Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to work independently while effectively collaborating with colleagues across multiple jurisdictions and cultures. Adaptability, sound judgment, and a solution-oriented mindset in a fast-paced business environment. Excellent command of English, both written and spoken. Additional European languages are an advantage.
