Job summary

Independent Recruiters is seeking an Assistant Tax Manager for a large international organization in the Venlo area. You will review tax work, ensure timely compliance, and liaise with auditors and tax authorities.

You will work with SAP and Excel, have VAT and reconciliation knowledge, and support the Tax Manager on ad-hoc projects. The role offers hybrid working, a competitive salary, and a non-contributory pension.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in the Netherlands specifically focused on Tax / Fiscal Studies.
• 3 to 5 years of relevant tax experience.
• At least one year of professional experience in the Netherlands.
• Solid knowledge of VAT and reconciliations.
• Experience with SAP is preferred. You have strong Excel skills.
• You are fluent in English; Dutch is considered a plus.
• You are proactive, hands‑on and comfortable identifying risks and suggesting improvements.
• A driving licence and access to a car are required when working from Venlo, as the office is difficult to reach by public transport.

Responsibilities

• Reviewing tax-related work performed by the shared service center in India.
• Ensuring accurate and timely tax compliance and adherence to relevant regulations.
• Reviewing reconciliations and monitoring VAT positions.
• Identifying tax risks and proposing improvements to processes and controls.
• Ensuring tax documentation is complete, accurate and audit-ready.
• Acting as a point of contact for auditors and tax authorities.
• Working closely with internal stakeholders and the wider finance organization.
• Supporting the Tax Manager with ad-hoc tax matters and projects.
