Job summary

The Amsterdam Law School at the University of Amsterdam invites applications for an innovative assistant professor in international and transnational criminal law, with a focus on European and transnational norms. The starting date is ideally by 1 January 2027.

You will teach and develop education in this field, supervise LLM theses, coordinate courses, and conduct high‑quality research. The position includes administrative duties and opportunities to teach in Dutch in the future, while

Qualifications

PhD in international, European or transnational criminal law (or adjacent fields).
Creative and innovative researcher in international/transnational criminal law with potential for external funding.
Ability to publish in international (peer-reviewed) journals.
Demonstrable teaching skills with positive evaluations.
Experience developing and delivering activating university education.

Responsibilities

Teach and develop education in international and transnational criminal law.
Conduct high-quality research and publish findings.
Coordinate courses in the LLM program and supervise LLM theses.
Deliver lectures and seminars; possibly teach Dutch courses in the future; handle administrative tasks.
