Turn this role into an interview — a resume and cover letter built around what this employer wants.
Zondervan Architectuur is seeking an Architect or Architectural Technician to join our small practice in Amsterdam for 4 or 5 days per week. You will manage projects from an existing situation through design to permit documentation, using 3D scanning and Revit to create accurate models.
The role offers a high degree of independence with varied renovation and transformation projects, flexible hybrid work, and opportunities to engage in architectural design beyond technical modelling.
Architect / Revit Modeller – Transformation projects
32–40 hours | Amsterdam / Hybrid | Start as soon as possible
Would you like to work on varied architectural projects, take real ownership of your work and see projects move quickly from an existing building to design and permit application?
Zondervan Architectuur is looking for an Architect or Architectural Technician to join our growing practice for 4 or 5 days per week.
We are a small architectural practice specialising in the renovation, transformation and redevelopment of existing buildings, including listed and historic properties. Our projects range from renovations and extensions to the transformation of existing buildings into apartments and other new uses.
Working with existing buildings means every project is different. It requires more than simply producing drawings: you need to understand what is already there, identify opportunities and constraints, and find practical ways to give buildings a new future.
Your role
You will be involved in projects from an early stage and have considerable responsibility for your own work.
Many of our projects start by 3D scanning the existing building. We use these scans and point clouds to create accurate Revit models, giving us a reliable digital starting point for the design.
From there, you will help develop the proposed situation and prepare the architectural documentation required for permit applications.
Your work can include:
The role is not fixed around one narrow set of tasks. We would like it to develop around your strengths and ambitions.
If you enjoy architectural design, there is plenty of opportunity to become more involved in the design process. If your strength lies in technical Revit work, building technology and permit drawings, you can take more ownership of that side of our projects.
A small practice means a different way of working
You will work directly with the main architect rather than being one small part of a large project team.
That means short communication lines, little hierarchy and considerable independence. You will be trusted to organise your own work, think critically and take responsibility for the quality of what you produce.
We value people who don't simply draw what they are given, but who notice when something doesn't make sense, ask questions and think about better solutions.
Because our projects are relatively varied, you can work on different buildings and project stages rather than spending years producing one part of a single large project.
Who are we looking for?
We are primarily looking for someone who combines strong Revit skills with accuracy, independence and a good understanding of buildings.
You should have:
It would be a strong advantage if you also have:
You don't necessarily need to tick every box. Strong Revit skills, technical understanding and the right way of thinking are most important to us.
Flexible and mostly remote
The position is mostly remote, giving you considerable freedom to organise your working environment and work from home.
At the same time, we believe there is value in working together in person. We will therefore occasionally work together from our office in Amsterdam, and some projects require site visits or meetings in the Randstad.
For this reason, you need to live in the Netherlands, preferably in or around the Randstad.
