Overview

As an Application Engineer, you’ll support customers by fixing, optimizing, and developing solutions for new markets alongside the sales team. Within Emerson’s Discrete Automation Business Unit—covering Factory Automation, Industrial Automation, and Precision Fluid Control—we represent brands like Aventics, Asco, Topworx, and Tescom, serving industries from automotive and food to oil, gas, and alternative fuels. You’ll provide technical guidance, develop concepts, size and design systems, and occasionally commission solutions using Emerson’s advanced technology. By sharing expertise with Sales and Service teams, you’ll act as a trusted advisor and contribute to innovation and continuous improvement across the organization.

Responsibilities

You review, analyze, and offer suitable solutions to the most complex technical challenges
You elaborate on these solutions in collaboration with our international engineer teams
You collaborate with sales and customers to find the best technical solutions
You visit customers, either independently or together with Sales to identify the most suitable solutions
You provide fast and professional technical support to customers, sales, and service teams
You develop and maintain a strong level of expertise in our products, industry trends, and application possibilities
You actively seek out new developments and identify new opportunities
You keep connect with international product departments to develop special options or new features for standard products
After delivery, you follow up with the customer to assess whether the solution provided meets expectations and explore potential improvements
Upon request from the Service organization, you support customers in resolving technical issues
You identify gaps in processes and proactively bring ideas for improvement

Qualifications

Technical education or technical knowledge gained by experience
Highly motivated and very well organized
Details oriented, ability to work under time pressure and multi-tasks, good judgment skills
Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities; proactive
Good Customer sense; interest for Commercial role and environment
Coordinated: you interact and work optimally with the team
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
Proficient in Dutch written and verbal
Ability and willingness to travel within Benelux region, Dutch driver’s license B required
