Job summary

East Carolina University’s Department of Anthropology seeks a Federal Work Study student to serve as a lab assistant for Fall 2026 and Spring 2027. The position provides support to faculty and staff by assisting with laboratory activities, collections management, and general office operations.

Duties include assisting with laboratory projects and research, organizing materials, processing artifacts, maintaining a safe lab, helping students and staff by phone, and performing routine office tasks.

Qualifications

• GPA requirement of 3.0 or higher.
• Major in Anthropology preferred with strong customer service and attention to detail.
• Willingness to work with diverse groups of people.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with laboratory projects and research activities.
• Preparing, organizing, and maintaining laboratory materials and equipment.
• Assisting with artifact processing, inventory, and data entry.
• Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe laboratory environment.
• Assisting students, faculty, and staff in person and by phone.
• Performing general office duties including filing, copying, scanning.
• Completing additional departmental projects as assigned.
