Job summary

SeraNovo, a Leiden-based pharmaceutical formulation company, is seeking an experienced Analytical Chemist to join our hands-on team. The role blends analytical work with responsibility for organising and running the laboratory efficiently.

Approximately 75% of the time is devoted to analytical tasks, with 25% focused on equipment, systems and laboratory coordination. You will develop UPLC methods, validate them, and support stability studies while collaborating across development projects.

We are looking for an experienced Analytical Chemist to join our team. This is a varied, hands-on position combining analytical chemistry with responsibility for the organisation and efficient operation of our laboratory.

Approximately 75% of the role will focus on analytical work, with 25% dedicated to laboratory operations, equipment and systems.

What you will do

Laboratory coordination

• Manage laboratory inventory, materials and consumables.
• Coordinate equipment maintenance and servicing.
• Organise incoming and outgoing laboratory shipments.
• Maintain a clean, orderly and efficient laboratory environment.
• Improve laboratory layout, organisation and workflows.
• Help ensure equipment and laboratory systems remain ready for ongoing project work.
• The position reports to SeraNovo's Analytical Lead and does not include direct people-management responsibilities.
  

What you bring

• A BSc or higher qualification in chemistry, analytical chemistry, pharmaceutical sciences or another relevant scientific discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least two years of post-degree industrial experience in analytical chemistry.
• Demonstrated experience analysing small molecules using UPLC.
• Practical experience with UPLC method development.
• Experience supporting method validation and stability studies.
• Experience within a pharmaceutical company, CDMO or a comparable pharmaceutical-development environment.
• A structured, accurate and scientifically rigorous approach to experimental work.
• The ability to organise your work effectively and contribute across multiple projects.

Experience with Waters UPLC systems, Empower software, instrument troubleshooting or laboratory operations would be an advantage.
