Job description

Job Description

In the fast-growing small satellite market, we are looking for a motivated AIT Technician to join our Manufacturing Assembly, Integration and Testing department. In this position you will work on both the validation of subsystems and systems and act as the technical bridging between product design and production, ensuring that the product designs are optimized for high-reliability, low-risk and cost-effective manufacturing.

You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams - including engineering, production and quality - to identify and resolve manufacturability issues early in and during the product lifecycle. This role is crucial for ensuring flight hardware and ground support equipment meet space-grade manufacturing, material, and reliability standards, while being cost effective.

Key Responsibilities
Planning and Preparation
  • Determine the nature, scope, and priority of activities required for the manufacturing, assembly, integration, and testing of (satellite) systems.
  • Estimate required man-hours, lead times, and prepare weekly and daily planning, including work plans and material requirements.
  • Identify necessary parts, outsourced services, and request quotes for materials and services from third parties.
  • Order materials and services, and reserve materials at the technical warehouse.
  • Ensure minimal disruption to production and optimal utilization of personnel and resources.
Manufacturing, Assembly, Integration and Testing Activities
  • Read and interpret engineering blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation to ensure accurate assembly and integration.
  • Integrate subsystems and products into the main system, ensuring compatibility and functional operation.
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure seamless integration of components across various system levels.
  • Conduct functional and performance testing of assemblies and integrated systems/products using specialized equipment (e.g., oscilloscopes, multimeters, test benches).
  • Identify and troubleshoot issues during testing, document results, and work with engineers to resolve problems.
Quality Assurance
  • Adhere to quality control procedures to ensure the final product meets all performance, safety, and reliability standards.
  • Maintain compliance with relevant industry standards (e.g., IPC-3, ECSS in aerospace) and safety protocols.
  • Ensure all documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and reflects the final system configuration.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
  • Interact with colleagues in a multidisciplinary work environment.
  • Receive and provide constructive feedback.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
Education and Experience
  • Vocational or higher education degree (MBO 3-4 to HBO) in the field of electronics.
  • 1–3 years of experience in a project environment.
  • Experience with electronics.
Mindset
  • Eager to learn and develop new skills.
  • Willing to travel occasionally.
  • Ability to work precisely, meticulously, and with a strong eye for detail.
  • Decisive, with a focus on maintaining constant quality and identifying potential problems.
  • Planning and organizational skills, with the ability to define goals, priorities, and required resources.
  • Collaborative mindset, able to work effectively in a team and contribute to improvement.
  • Excellent English communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and documentation skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Understanding of PCBA (Printed Circuit Board Assembly) schematics.
  • Experience with testing telecommunication subsystems.
  • Experience with creating small test setups.
  • Ability to act quickly and effectively in dynamic situations.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to fix issues efficiently.
