Job summary

Primus Connect in Amsterdam is seeking an Interim Director of Data & AI Transformation to mobilize an enterprise-wide programme, translating vision into an executable roadmap and establishing governance, operating model and delivery disciplines to drive measurable business value.

You will work closely with the COO, Executive Board and Technology leadership to deliver rapid momentum and ensure a smooth transition of capability into permanent teams, with strong on-site collaboration in Amsterdam.

Interim Director of Data & AI Transformation

Amsterdam (3 - 4 days per week onsite)

8 - 12 months contract

Reporting to COO

An Interim Director of Data & AI transformation is needed to take responsibility for leading our prestigious clients Data & AI transformation.

As the organisation moves from defining its Data & AI ambition to delivering an enterprise-wide transformation that will drive measurable commercial and operational value, the Interim Director of Data & AI Transformation will lead the mobilisation of this strategic programme.

Working closely with the COO, Executive Board and Technology leadership, the successful candidate will translate the organisation's Data & AI vision into an executable transformation roadmap, establishing the governance, operating model and delivery disciplines required to drive sustainable, long-term success.

The immediate priority is to mobilise quickly, establish strong foundations and begin delivering value.

The key responsibilities of the role include:

• Leading the client’s enterprise Data & AI Transformation
• Mobilising a blended team of senior specialists
• Establishing programme governance and executive reporting
• Aligning business, technology and executive stakeholders
• Building delivery momentum across architecture, engineering, governance and product
• Ensuring measurable commercial outcomes

Success in this role will be measured by the rapid mobilisation of the Data & AI transformation team, with clear accountability established across all specialist workstreams. The successful candidate will define and deliver an executable Data & AI roadmap, underpinned by robust programme governance, transparent executive reporting and a disciplined approach to delivering measurable business outcomes.

They will ensure the organisation's data architecture and platform foundations progress at pace, while enabling priority data products and AI use cases to move confidently through agreed stages.

The essential experience required includes:

• Experience operating at Director, Transformation Director, Programme Director, Chief Data Officer or equivalent level.
• A strong record of turning strategy into governed and measurable delivery.
• Experience leading senior multidisciplinary teams.
• Direct engagement with C-suite executives and Boards.
• Experience managing programme investment, risks, dependencies and reporting.
• Experience establishing or changing enterprise operating models.
• Practical understanding of enterprise data platforms, data products and AI delivery.
• Experience coaching and empowering senior functional leads.
• Experience working with Finance to define and track benefits.
• Experience transferring capability from interim teams into permanent ownership.
• Evidence of leading successfully through ambiguity, resistance and organisational complexity.

This is an Amsterdam-based, boots-on-the-ground assignment. The individual will be expected to work regularly on site with the transformation team and executive stakeholders. A strong physical presence in Amsterdam is essential to building relationships, resolving issues quickly and maintaining delivery momentum.
