the company in Rotterdam is seeking an AI Software Engineer to join the Software Engineering team (8 FTE) and lead GenAI projects for offshore wind and heavy civils. You will own AI development end-to-end from scoping to deployment and adoption, shaping how AI is applied across engineering and design.

You should be a fast learner with strong technical insight, experienced in Python and React, with hands-on AI experience, RAG and prompt engineering, and familiarity with Azure.

Qualifications

• Master's degree or higher in a technical field (CS, DS, AI)
• Hands-on experience with Python and modern AI frameworks
• Experience with LLMs, fine-tuning, and RAG
• Knowledge of prompt engineering and API integrations

Responsibilities

• Build GenAI applications: agents, agentic workflows, document intelligence
• Select and evaluate language models and integrate via APIs, SDKs
• Create fine-tuned and RAG models based on engineering data
• Build self-learning and agentic systems that improve with use
• Translate user needs into working AI features

Foundations of Your Job

As an AI Engineer at the company, you join our Software Engineering team (8 FTE) to build the AI solutions that will reshape our engineering and design projects in Offshore Wind and Heavy Civils. You will pioneer how AI can best be used inside the company and inspire engineers and designers to work with it.

Your day-to-day work covers:

• Build GenAI applications: agents, agentic workflows, and document intelligence
• Select and evaluate language models and integrate them via APIs, SDKs and MCPs
• Create fine-tuned and RAG models based on the company's engineering and design data
• Build self-learning and agentic systems that improve with use
• Translate user needs into working AI features
• Bring engineers and designers along by giving demos and collecting feedback
• Stay current with the AI landscape and bring new techniques to the team

You own AI projects end-to-end: from scoping through prototyping and development, to deployment, adoption and iteration.

• Master's degree in a technical field, including but not limited to:
• Computer Science, Data Science or Artificial Intelligence
• Applied Mathematics or Econometrics
• Mechanical, Aerospace, Civil or Structural Engineering with a strong programming track record
• Experienced in Python and/or React
• Hands-on experience with LLMs. modern AI frameworks, finetuning and training on domain-specific data
• Knowledge of RAG and prompt engineering
• Experience working in the Microsoft environment with Azure is preferred
• Affinity with engineering and design challenges is a plus
