Job summary

AtS[&]T in Eindhoven is seeking a Software Engineer focused on AI and software modernisation. You will work on analysing legacy code, building AI-assisted tools, and modernising complex software systems using C++, C#, Java, and Python.

Collaborating with researchers and engineers, you will develop prototypes, contribute to internal tools, and apply AI techniques across Windows and Linux environments, with CI/CD and testing practices shaping daily work.

Qualifications

• MSc or PhD in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Programming Languages or related field.
• Strong hands-on programming skills with experience working on existing codebases.
• Professional experience with at least one of C++, C#, Java or Python.
• Experience or strong interest in program analysis, compilers, reverse engineering, software modernisation or AI-assisted software engineering.
• Ability to translate complex technical problems into practical solutions.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work with engineers and researchers.
• Proactive mindset and ability to take ownership while collaborating.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test methods and tools for program analysis and software comprehension.
• Analyse large and complex codebases to understand structure and behaviour.
• Develop models and tools for software migration, refactoring and modernisation.
• Explore and apply AI-assisted techniques to software engineering, incl. generative AI, retrieval and knowledge-based approaches.
• Build prototypes and turn successful concepts into internal tools.
• Work with Windows and Linux environments and CI/CD practices.
• Collaborate with engineers, researchers and industry partners to deliver practical solutions.
• Present findings and recommendations to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Contribute to technical reports, publications and workshops.
