Job summary

Van Oord is looking for a 2nd Engineer to ensure the maintenance and operation of technical systems on our dredging vessels. Responsibilities include executing maintenance, supervising crew, and maintaining ship administration. Ideal candidates will have an MBO or HBO diploma in Marine Engineering, at least 3 years of experience, and the necessary certification. Qualifications

• DP Maintenance Certificate and the required valid STCW documents.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, optimise and improve the engine room and technical systems.
• Execute routine maintenance and repairs.
• Supervise, motivate and instruct assigned crew members.
• Create a constructive work atmosphere onboard.
• Maintain ship administration according to Van Oord procedures.

Job description

As 2nd Engineer, you are responsible for the condition and maintenance of all technical installations on board our dredging vessels, including the HAM 318, Vox Amalia and Utrecht. You work in a 12-hour rotation and report directly to the Chief Engineer. Together, you ensure all technical systems operate smoothly to support the success of our maritime projects.

You are calm under pressure, committed to teamwork and ready to take responsibility. Your maritime background, technical expertise and strong communication skills make you a valuable force onboard. In addition, you also have:

• MBO or HBO diploma in Marine Engineering or equivalent;
• Minimum 3 years of experience as 2nd Engineer on dredging vessels;
• DP Maintenance Certificate and the required valid STCW documents.
