Job summary

Van Oord is seeking a 2nd Engineer Backhoe Dredger to maintain and operate on-board backhoe dredging vessels. You will support the 1st Engineer, keep engines and generators in top condition, and ensure safety and efficiency on demanding offshore projects.

The role emphasizes hands-on maintenance, teamwork with international crew, and adherence to offshore safety standards, with a clear path for professional growth and on-board facilities to support performance.

Qualifications

• Hands-on technician with a proactive mindset.
• Experience with complex mechanical and electrical systems.
• Experience on dredging vessels, preferably backhoe dredgers.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the 1st Engineer with daily maintenance and operation of engines, propulsion systems and generators.
• Performing inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Troubleshooting issues and coordinating timely repairs to minimise downtime.
• Ensuring compliance with safety and environmental regulations on board.
• Supporting a safe, smooth and productive working environment through teamwork and communication.
