Job summary

Cognizant in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Workday HCM Principal Consultant to guide clients through transformation, implementation and operation of Workday solutions. You will configure the product to meet business requirements, lead design sessions, and mentor junior consultants.

You will collaborate with clients and internal teams to ensure successful deployments, data conversions, testing, and knowledge transfer, while upholding quality and timelines.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of Workday functional implementation experience.
• Experience in HR, Payroll, or Financial software.
• Experience implementing ERP/SaaS solutions.
• Strong communication and presentation skills.
• Advanced MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Become a Workday HCM product expert with knowledge of design, configuration, testing, and implementation.
• Recommend best solutions based on client requirements, budget, and timeframe; adapt scope as needed.
• Lead design sessions and configuration decisions based on client needs at all project stages.
• Support the client through all project phases, ensuring smooth transfer from legacy systems to Workday HCM.
• Manage multiple tasks with limited direction and keep stakeholders updated on progress.
• Collaborate with integration team to configure and test Workday integrations with payroll/benefits providers.
• Take leadership roles on projects or as a team lead/DA Reviewer.
• Demonstrate hands-on expertise configuring business processes and security; data loading and tenant-to-tenant moves.
• Mentor fellow consultants and analysts; support shadow assignments.

Job Title: Workday HCM Principal Consultant

Cognizant is seeking a Workday HCM Principal Consultant to be based in Kuala Lumpur. As a Principal Consultant, you will guide clients through the transformation, implementation and operation phases of a Workday implementation. Additionally, you must have a technical aptitude and be capable of configuring the product to meet the business requirements and design specifications.

Responsibilities

• Become a Workday HCM product expert with knowledge of design, configuration, testing, and implementation.
• Leverage your expertise to recommend the best solution based on the client’s requirements, budget, and timeframe; with the flexibility to adapt the scope as additional needs are identified.
• Guide the customer through facilitated design sessions and configuration decisions based on best practices and an understanding of the customer’s unique business requirements at all stages of the project.
• Regularly engage and support the client through all phases of the project, ensuring a smooth transfer from legacy systems to the Workday HCM solution.
• Perform multiple tasks under limited direction, while regularly keeping the client, your project team and your Engagement Manager abreast of changes or progress related to the project.
• Work alongside the integration team to configure and test integrations between the Workday solution and the client’s selected payroll and benefits providers.
• Willingness to take a leadership position on a project, or as a Collaborative or Workday Product Partner Lead and/or DA Reviewer.
• Display your hands‑on expertise of the software, including iLoading customer data, moving configuration from tenant to tenant, and configuring business processes and security.
• Utilize your technical aptitude to convert and map data sources into data conversion templates via iLoads.
• Act as a mentor to fellow consultants and analysts, including providing support for shadow assignments.
• Actively participate in update training and internal opportunities to share one’s skills and learnings with others within the organization.

Skills & Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Human Resources Management, HRIS or related field required.
• 2+ years of Workday functional implementation experience, highly desired.
• 2-5 years Human Resources, Payroll, or Financial software experience, required.
• 2-5 years implementing functional solutions with ERP or SaaS software, highly desired.
• Experience gathering business requirements, designing and prototyping, testing and implementing practical business solutions under multiple deadlines.
• Demonstrated functional experience in Human Resources, Payroll, or Financials Management.
• Passion for exceptional customer service and collaboration.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to effectively manage customer expectations.
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint programs.
