Qualifications

  • Professionally qualified – Graduate or Postgraduate in Banking/Finance or related discipline.
  • Minimum 5-8 years of experience in either banking or financial institution with responsibility in managing compliance risk especially in financial crime compliance (fraud / sanctions/ anti money laundering) and BNM regulations compliance.
  • Knowledge of legislative/regulatory requirements of banking and financial institutions, banking products and AML/CFT are a key requirement.
  • Demonstrate ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing, through all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent stakeholder management skills.
  • Attentive to details, possess investigative nature and the ability to deal with potentially contentious issues effectively.
  • Able to work independently as well as in a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide governance advisory and assurance in AML/KYC and regulatory requirements, coordinating with stakeholders.
  • Conduct periodic reviews of internal SOPs and update them per regulatory guidelines and audit findings.
  • Highlight potential audit issues and implement mitigating actions with responsible owners.
  • Assist in risk culture development and operational risk management, tracking incidents and recovery.
  • Deliver training and briefing to frontliners and product managers on regulatory guidelines.

Job Description

Compliance related matters (including AML/KYC, Regulatory related) To support the Team Lead in collaboration with compliance and Wholesale Banking Business Risk and Control team and relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate operationalization of Group and local guidelines. Coordinate and work with stakeholders to conduct gap analysis on regulatory policy and guidelines issued by country regulator, MAS and Group Compliance against existing implemented guidelines and processes. Conduct periodic review of the BU internal SOP, initiate changes to the SOP in accordance with the regulatory guidelines and processes, ensure gaps identified in previous audit reviews are addressed and updated to the SOP where applicable. Highlight potential future audit issues to relevant stakeholders to ensure appropriate mitigating actions can be implemented. Governance Advisory and Assurance Process streamline, provide recommendations and mitigating controls for escalations related to AML KYC and BNM regulatory requirements. Provide baseline advisory to Frontliners and product managers on regulatory guidelines and policies, external environment change that will impact the business segment- Emerging Enterprise (EE) and ensure compliance. To uplift AML KYC and local regulatory awareness and knowledge of EE Sales via training and case learning. To uphold service excellence at all times. Ensure timely communication of all changes impacting customers and staff. Conduct Assurance review and postmortem analysis. Coordinate audit inspections and reviews conducted by Internal / Group Audit and Country Compliance and external audit inspections conducted by external auditors and country regulator. Risk Culture & Operational Risk Management Support the Team Lead in driving the initiatives to raise risk awareness within EE. Assist in managing operational risks through implementation of effective operational risk control standards that meet Group and local policies and standards as well as regulatory requirements. Provide opinion to business unit for operational risk issues arising from new business initiatives or during the course of conducting business. Timely reporting of operational lapse/loss incidents, losses and recovery. Engage relevant stakeholders for timely rectification and track and follow through for closure within agreed timeline. Partner with Sales Performance Management and Business Head to ensure effective execution of consequences management. Drive MRAs and Process improvement.
