Job summary

QES Group Of Companies in Penang invites a Vision Software Engineer to join our team. You will support the setup, installation, and commissioning of machine vision systems for automation and inspection applications, and develop vision inspection solutions.

Qualifications include a Bachelor’s in Electronic or Mechatronic Engineering, at least three years in machine vision, hands-on experience with Cognex VisionPro, and programming skills in C# or Python.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Electronic Engineering, Mechatronic Engineering, or related field.
Minimum 3 years of experience in machine vision or industrial automation.
Experience in machine vision hardware, including cameras, lenses, optics, and lighting.
Able to perform optical evaluation.
Experience in vision software, preferably Cognex VisionPro or equivalent platforms.
Knowledge of both hardware and software integration for vision systems.
Good troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Preferred: Experience in industrial inspection systems.
Knowledge of image processing or Deep Learning is an advantage.
Programming experience (C#, Python) is a plus.

Responsibilities

Support the setup, installation, and commissioning of machine vision systems for automation and inspection applications.
Develop and implement machine vision inspection solutions
Select and evaluate vision hardware components
Configure and optimize vision software tools
Support system testing, commissioning, and troubleshooting
Configure and integrate industrial cameras, lighting systems, lenses, and related vision hardware according to project requirements and customer specifications.
Perform hardware diagnostics and systematic troubleshooting during machine setup, FAT, and on-site commissioning.
Identify root causes of hardware and system issues and propose effective corrective and preventive actions.
Assist in the alignment, calibration, and optimization of camera positioning, lighting angles, and optical components to ensure optimal image quality and system performance.
Support software-related activities including testing, debugging, and basic development using C# for vision applications and system control.
Work closely with the engineering and project teams to integrate vision systems with PLCs, motion systems, and automation equipment.
Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including setup guides, test reports, and troubleshooting records.
Provide on-site and remote technical support to customers during installation, commissioning, and after-sales service.
Conduct system testing and validation to ensure compliance with project specifications and quality standards.
Assist in continuous improvement of vision system solutions, tools, and internal processes.
Participate in training sessions to stay updated on new vision technologies, hardware, and software platforms.
