Job summary

MMS Ventures Berhad in Penang is seeking a Vision System Engineer to bridge optics, hardware, and code, owning the full vision software lifecycle from camera and lighting specifications to calibration on production floors.

You will design machine vision software for automated inspection, implement algorithms, and integrate libraries such as Halcon or Cognex, collaborating with engineers to ensure robust, scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
• Strong proficiency in at least one C-family or .NET language.
• Working knowledge of commercial vision libraries (Halcon, Cognex VisionPro, Keyence CV-X; OpenCV acceptable).
• Understanding of vision system concepts: lighting, optics, and resolution.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain machine vision software for automated inspection, measurement, and alignment systems.
• Define and implement vision inspection strategies including camera, illumination, lens selection and FOV calculations.
• Develop and optimize image processing algorithms (blob analysis, edge detection, pattern matching, OCR, 3D measurement).
• Integrate and configure vision libraries into the software framework.
• Conduct GR&R studies to validate vision system accuracy and stability on production conditions.
• Troubleshoot vision failures at customer sites and diagnose root causes (software, lighting, vibration, part variation).
• Collaborate with mechanical and electrical engineers during machine integration to ensure seamless communication with PLCs and motion controllers.
