Job summary

NTT DATA is seeking a seasoned Virtualization & OS Engineer to own the full lifecycle of virtualized server environments and OS configurations across on-premises platforms. You will handle VM provisioning, cluster management, OS hardening, and automation, ensuring high availability and security in a fast-paced managed services setting.

The role emphasizes automation and continuous improvement, with responsibilities spanning incident response, change management, and documentation.

Qualifications

• Expertise in hypervisor administration across VMware vSphere/ESXi, Hyper-V and KVM.
• Experience with vCenter management, clusters, HA, DRS and vMotion.
• Proficient in VM provisioning, snapshots and lifecycle operations.
• Knowledge of virtual network config (vSwitch, VLAN) in hypervisors.
• Experience with OS imaging via PXE-based deployment (WDS).
• Windows Server and Linux OS administration with patching and hardening.
• Strong security and CIS hardening practices.
• Experience with IaC (Terraform) for VM provisioning and Ansible for automation.
• Familiarity with security tools, endpoint protection, and access management.
• Hands-on with file sharing, SFTP, and certificate management.
• Proficient in source control (Git) and code reviews.
• 5–10 years of related working experience.

Responsibilities

• Provision and configure virtual machines per defined standards.
• Manage hypervisor clusters with HA, DRS, vMotion and resource pools.
• Administer Windows Server and Linux OS; patching and CIS hardening.
• Manage user accounts, SSH keys, permissions, and certificates.
• Configure vSwitch, VLAN and virtual network settings on hosts.
• Build OS images and manage PXE-based re-imaging pipelines.
• Maintain services like file sharing, SFTP, and print services.
• Maintain security posture with endpoint protections and firewall rules.
• Deploy and monitor log collection agents across servers.
• Handle storage: partitions, volumes, and capacity planning.
• Contribute to automation initiatives and runbooks.
• Respond to incidents and participate in change management.
