KPJ Healthcare Berhad is seeking a Radiation Therapist to join its private hospital network in Malaysia. The role involves delivering radiotherapy plans, CT Simulation workups, and closely coordinating with oncologists, medical physicists and nursing staff to ensure accurate treatment delivery and patient safety.

The incumbent will participate in treatment planning, CT simulation, and daily delivery while maintaining stringent radiation protection standards and clear communication with patients

Qualifications

  • Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Radiotherapy qualification.
  • One year experience in Radiation treatment delivery and CT Simulation. Experience working in hospital based.

  • Ensure safety of the patient before, during and after procedure by providing the necessary care and constant monitoring of patient’s conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to rules and regulations on radiation protection to assurance of the safety of patients and other personnel.
  • Establishes and develops effective communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives, to achieve optimal patient’s satisfaction.
  • Prepare patient’s charge form for cashier and check charges are charged accordingly for completeness.

SUMMARY OF DUTIES
The Radiation therapist is a professional trained worker with knowledge and skills to accurately administer low or high-energy x-rays and electrons for therapeutic purposes. Radiation therapist associated with clinical oncologist, medical physicist and other member of the team, makes radiotherapy service more effective.

MAIN DUTIES RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Understands and carries out the application of ionizing radiation in medicine in line with Vision and mission, philosophy, Goals and objective that suit the scope of the Radiotherapy services and the hospital.
  • Understands the service organization structure.
  • Attends meetings held by the services in order to discuss issues and matters pertaining to the operation of the service.
  • Delivers planned courses of radiotherapy with minimum supervision.
  • Ensure safety of the patient before, during and after procedure by providing the necessary care and constant monitoring of patient’s conditions.
  • Adhere strictly to rules and regulations on radiation protection to assurance of the safety of patients and other personnel.
  • Maintains the safety policy and ensures that all accidents/incidents are reported to the Head of Services and documented.
  • Ensure that all technical details processing from CT Simulation stage, planning stage, until daily treatment delivery at Linac to the patients are accurate and precise per planned. e.g. dose delivery, fractionation, field size, isocenter, shielding , bolus, wedges, tongue depressor, BDS etc
  • During CT Simulation (real-time imaging), work in close association with consultants, radiologist (if necessary) and medical physicist. Always provide opinion / assistance regarding of patient’s immobilization, comfort and the most reproducibility of treatment fields.
  • Liaise with Diagnostic Imaging radiographers / Staff Nurse for any radiotherapy patients who need to have CT Simulation with contrast.
  • Determine and set the CT Simulation parameters to cover tumour area, check scans and transfer to treatment planning system for the consultant and medical physicist.
  • Radiation therapists are responsible for the quality of the scan images and must provide the correct view of specific body structures or systems.
  • Radiation therapists are responsible to process treatment preparation (RTT 1st check) after plan is completed by physicist.
  • Establishes and develops effective communication with all disciplines, patients and relatives, to achieve optimal patient’s satisfaction.
  • Conducts visits on patients in the wards to ascertain for other additional needs; talk to patient/family member.
  • Prepare patient’s charge form for cashier and check charges are charged accordingly for completeness.


QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Certificate / Diploma / Degree in Radiotherapy qualification

EXPERSION REQUIRED
One year experience in Radiation treatment delivery and CT Simulation. Experience working in hospital based.
