Job summary

Jora Malaysia is seeking a Test Technician to support electronics development, validation, and approval testing within its laboratory. You will install, commission, and use new test equipment and perform electronics, electro-mechanical, software, and firmware tests on new products and changes.

The role requires an Associate degree in Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent, and a minimum of 3 years hands-on testing experience.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree (AAS) in Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent practical experience.
  • Proven hands-on electronics or electro‑mechanical testing experience (min 3 years).
  • Ability to read schematics, drawings, and software/firmware code.

Responsibilities

  • Support a Staff Engineer in delivering electronics development, validation, and approval testing in a laboratory environment.
  • Install, commission, and utilise new electronics test equipment and testing procedures.
  • Execute electronic, electro-mechanical, software, and firmware tests on new products and design changes.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to test products, systems, components, and modifications.
  • Develop detailed test reports including methodology, data, results, and recommendations.
  • Participate in design reviews and problem-solving activities.

  • Support a Staff Engineer in delivering electronics development, validation, and approval testing within a laboratory environment
  • Install, commission, and utilise new electronics test equipment and testing procedures
  • Execute electronic, electro‑mechanical, software, and firmware tests on new products and design changes
  • Perform established mechanical tests where required to support electronics validation
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to test products, systems, components, and modifications
  • Analyse test results, interpret findings, and clearly communicate intent, outcomes, and risks
  • Identify potential design, test method, test plan, and laboratory process issues early and propose solutions
  • Support fixture design, test protocol development, and product improvement recommendations
  • Develop detailed test reports including methodology, data, results, and recommendations
  • Contribute to the development, documentation, and training of laboratory equipment, procedures, and standards
  • Participate in design reviews, internal problem‑solving activities, and external technical discussions
  • Evaluate opportunities to introduce data acquisition and automation into manual test processes
  • Proactively recommend enhancements to laboratory technical capabilities to meet evolving business needs
  • Maintain continuous learning and professional development
  • Carry out additional duties as required

A successful Test Technician should have:

  • Associate degree (AAS) in Electronic Engineering Technology or equivalent practical experience
  • Background in electronics, electrical engineering, robotics, or related disciplines
  • Minimum of 3 years' hands‑on experience in electronics or electro‑mechanical testing
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics, drawings, and software or firmware code
  • Experience testing electro‑mechanical systems with embedded and application software
  • Strong electronic circuit and software troubleshooting skills
  • Soldering capability for PCB repair and modification
  • Experience with EMI testing equipment and environmental test chambers
  • Proficiency in standard laboratory instruments (oscilloscopes, multimeters, calipers, micrometers, dielectric and leakage current testers)
  • Experience with electronics‑specific tools such as spectrum analysers and soldering stations
  • Ability to disassemble and reassemble consumer or electro‑mechanical products correctly
  • Strong analytical thinking, judgement, and problem‑solving capability
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively
  • Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement and delivering results
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within cross‑functional teams
