Job summary

Flextronics - The Flex Company in Prai, Penang, is seeking a Staff Test Engineer to implement and maintain cost-effective testing methods for systems, software, and equipment. You will lead engineering activities for in-circuit and functional test programs, with emphasis on DFT, test data interpretation, and process documentation.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with at least 6 years in Test Engineering, and involves developing test models, software drivers, and coordinating

Responsibilities

• Directs and coordinates testing and test control apparatus and equipment development or software testing.
• Directs calibration of instruments and control devices for testing and data recording.
• Resolve testing problems such as malfunctions, incomplete data, or coding issues.
• Analyze test data and prepare technical reports for engineering and management.
• Develop or use software/hardware to conduct tests on products/systems.
• Train floor staff on test hardware/software and problem solving techniques.
• Perform root-cause analysis to resolve yield problems and monitor improvements.
• Support equipment verification and integration in production.
• Create and maintain process documentation.
• Seek new technologies or procedures in the test sector.

Job Summary

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Staff Test Engineer located in Prai, Penang. This role is responsible for implementing and maintaining cost-effective methods for testing and troubleshooting systems, software, and equipment.

What a typical day looks like:

• Directs and/or coordinates electronic engineering and/or technical personnel in fabrication and design of testing and test control apparatus and equipment, or software and systems testing.
• Directs and coordinates electronic engineering activities concerned with development, procurement, installation and calibration of instruments, equipment and control devices required to test, and record test data.
• Interfaces and confers with scientific, engineering and technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, data interpretation or coding issues.
• Analyzes and interprets test data and prepares technical reports for use by electronic or software engineering, and management personnel.
• May develops or use computer software and hardware to conduct tests on electronic products and systems or software.
• Trains and instructs floor support, test technicians and test operators on test hardware and/or software, as well as problem solving techniques.
• Resolves test yield problems by performing analysis of root causes, developing and coordinating corrective action measures and monitoring improvements.
• Perform and support equipment verification and integration in production.
• Create and maintain process documentation.
• Actively search for new technologies or procedures in the test sector.
• Determines conditions under which tests are to be conducted and sequences and phases of test operations.

Specialized Job Responsibilities may be required for certain positions

IN-CIRCUIT

• Develops and/or supports quality comprehensive test programs.
• Develops or modifies test models.
• Performs written analysis of fault grade.
• Develops quotes for test development and enhancements.
• Performs test ability analysis (DFT).
• Performs mechanical analysis of test fixtures.
• Coordinates 3rd part development of in-circuit programs, enhancements, and test fixtures.

FUNCTIONAL

• Develops and/or modifies test programs using various languages (i.e. Python, Lab View, Perl etc.).
• Develops instrument drivers.
• Develops and/or supports diagnostic tests at the card edge level.
• Designs and supports functional test hardware, computer platforms and interfaces.
• Develops test plans and procedures.
• Coordinates 3rd party development of functional test development,enhancements, test fixtures.
• Develops quotations for functional test hardware and software.

ENVIRONMENTAL STRESS SCREENING (ESS)

• Designs, develops and/or supports environmental test programs, procedures and profiles
• Designs and/or supports mechanical/electrical interfaces for product tests.
• Performs failure analysis on environmental test failures.
• Coordinates 3rd party development of ESS activities.

SYSTEMS & Software

• Analyzes and interprets software or system level diagnostic failure (software and hardware).
• Develops and/or modifies software or system level plans and tests.
• Develops and/or supports quality comprehensive test programs.
• Develops quotes for test development and enhancements.
• Performs test ability analysis (DFT).

Experience

Typically requires a Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience and training.

Minimum 6 years of working experience in Test Engineering field is required.
