Job summary

Commtech Asia (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd is seeking a Technical Projects Manager in Malaysia to lead and coordinate client projects from on-site locations. You will steer commissioning activities, align with business goals, manage resources, and ensure delivery timelines meet contractual obligations.

The role requires strong leadership, knowledge of MEP systems, and the ability to work with government bodies and clients. English and Malay fluency are essential, with Mandarin an advantage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).
• Fluent in English and Malay; Mandarin is an added advantage.
• Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).
• Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in testing and commissioning, with at least 7 years in a managerial role.

Responsibilities

• Participate in client meetings and address project issues to ensure optimal outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with government departments (e.g., Construction Bureau, Quality Bureau) for consultancy/project management services.
• Develop and implement operational strategies to meet business goals and budgets, covering quality management, health & safety, legal compliance, administration, finance, and people management.
• Gain full knowledge of the commissioning processes and lead by example on site.
• Provide technical advice and managerial support and coaching to project delivery teams.
• Support the preparation of project proposals, including financial, logistical, and technical aspects
• Support Commissioning Engineers, representing CTA for major projects by attending key meetings and driving technical solutions and progress.
• Support the timely provision of monthly and close out project reports to Contracts Manager.
• Technically oversee and take responsibility for delivery of service in accordance with CTA / Client expectations
• Support project teams’ compilation of technical reports and submission of status reports, including progress updates
• Support Commissioning appraisal of design / shop drawing, specification and documents
• Undertake site inspections to identify commissioning related issues and concerns to closure where needed
• Ensure work is carried out aligned with the Company procedures / industry / local statutory codes
• Monitor and control site working conditions to ensure staff safety and wellbeing.

We are seeking aTechnical Projects Managerto support the Company’s operations in Malaysia. This role involves directing and coordinating activities in alignment with established business goals, corporate objectives, and policies. You will provide support to strategic direction and operational structure and contribute to policy and strategy development.

The role also includes working closely with commissioning teams on-site, managing project progression, supporting delivery teams, and collaborating with clients to ensure expectations, procedures, and deadlines are met.

JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Project Management

Strategic & Business Planning

Assist the development and implement short- and long-term business plans with the Country Manager.

Business Development, Sales & Marketing

Support business development efforts, support sales targets, and guide marketing initiatives.

Build and maintain strategic relationships with key clients, consultants, and business partners.

Human Resources Management & Development

Support the Country Manager to maintain an effective organizational structure with qualified resources.

Assist the monitoring of staff performance and collaborate with HR to help develop training and development needs.

REQUIREMENTS AND SKILLS

Knowledge

Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent).

Proficiency in spoken and written English and Malay is required. Able to speak, read and write Mandarin is an added advantage.

Strong knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, Project).

Experience

Minimum 10 years of relevant experience in testing and commissioning, with at least 7 years in a managerial role.

Solid understanding of MEP systems, including design, installation, testing, commissioning, and project management.

Experience in project coordination or management within the Asia Pacific region is an advantage.
