Job summary

IJM Corporation Berhad is seeking an experienced mechanical design engineer to lead the review and coordination of mechanical designs for data center and infrastructure projects in Malaysia. The role requires ensuring compliance with project requirements, standards, and constructability.

You will review drawings, calculations, equipment sizing, and technical submissions while coordinating with external consultants, clients, and authorities to resolve design issues and support project delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or related field.
• 10 years of mechanical design experience with a consulting firm.
• Experience in data center, mission-critical facilities, commercial towers, and infrastructure projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the review and coordination of mechanical designs to meet project requirements and standards.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment sizing and selections for quality and cost efficiency.
• Coordinate technical matters with external consultants, clients, authorities and project teams to resolve design issues and support delivery.
• Provide technical support during tender, pre-construction and construction stages including design optimization and value engineering.
• Review mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and related building services.

Job description

• Lead the review and coordination of mechanical designs to ensure compliance with project requirements, engineering standards, statutory requirements and constructability.
• Review drawings, specifications, calculations, equipment sizing & selections and technical submissions to ensure quality, practicality and cost effectiveness.
• Coordinate technical matters with external consultants, clients, authorities and project teams to resolve design issues and support project delivery.
• Provide technical support during tender, pre-construction and construction stages including design optimization and value engineering.
• Review mechanical systems including HVAC, plumbing, fire protection and related building services.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 10 years of mechanical design experience with consulting firm.
• Experience in data center, mission-critical facility, commercial tower, and infrastructure project, such as railways, highway, bridge, airport, WWTP, and utilities.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, engineering codes, statutory requirements and construction practices.
• Excellent command of English, both written and presentation skills.
