Job summary

PPG Industries in Malaysia invites a Technical Intern to organize and conduct experimental work, support chemists with conclusions, and contribute to new or improved product formulations under supervisor guidance.

The role focuses on performing experiments, documenting results, maintaining lab equipment and safety practices, and providing technical support to sales and production teams. Suitable for a full-time student pursuing science-related degrees for at least 6 months.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
• Strong interest in laboratory work, product development, and testing activities.
• Basic understanding of laboratory practices, data recording, and safety procedures.
• Ability to document experimental results and prepare reports.
• Knowledge of EHS (Environment, Health & Safety) practices is an added advantage.
• Available for a full-time internship of at least 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Follow directions and execute assigned experimentation with some involvement from supervisor.
• Logically organize a series of tasks to complete assigned experiment.
• Record experimental output in a condensed, tabulated or graphic form to concisely communicate results and trends.
• Provide technical support to other functions under guidance from supervisor.
• Keep lab supplied, maintain basic equipment, and ensure calibration.
• Understand and practice EHS processes in the working environment.
• Organize and draw conclusions from lab experiments with supervisors.
• Fully record all experimental work in lab notebooks and databases.
• Assist sales and production with lab support and contribute to product development ideas.
• Support ideas for lab work involving new product development and process improvements.

As a Technical Intern you will organise and conduct experimental work. To assist chemist on conclusions from the work and contribute to the development of new or improved product formulations. Under direction from supervisor, provide technical support for new and existing products.

Main Responsibilities

Follows direction and executes assigned experimentation with some involvement from supervisor, discuss work with supervisor daily.

Logically organize a series of tasks to complete assigned experiment.

Record experimental output in a condensed, tabulated or graphic form to concisely and effectively communicate results and trends.

With guidance from supervisor, provides technical support to other functions.

Keep lab appropriately supplied, keep basic equipment functioning and certifiably calibrated.

Understand and consistently practice EHS processes relevant to the job in the working environment.

Organize, accurately carry out and draw conclusions from lab experiments following discussion with supervisors.

Ensure all experimental work is fully recorded in appropriate lab notebooks, databases and where necessary, project reports.

Work safely, following all lab procedures and contribute to the maintenance of high safety standards.

Provide technical support (closely guided by supervisor) to other functions especially sales and production.

To support ideas for lab work involving new product development, existing product improvement, formula cost reduction, processes and procedural improvement.

Qualifications

Currently pursuing a Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related scientific discipline.
