Job summary

Leighton Contractors (Malaysia) / Leighton Asia Malaysia seeks a senior engineering leader with 20+ years in civil, structural, or multidisciplinary engineering. You will mentor professionals, shape strategy, and ensure governance across portfolios and projects.

Lead safety culture, drive continuous improvement, and build leadership capability for succession planning while aligning with CIMIC/EIC Principles and business objectives.

Qualifications

• Tertiary degree in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 20+ years as a senior engineer or design manager in engineering consulting or construction.
• Extensive experience across multiple engineering disciplines.
• Proven leadership to build effective teams and deliver outcomes.
• Strong business planning, development and governance capabilities.
• Proven stakeholder management with internal and external partners.
• Risk management experience with monitoring controls and actions.
• Ability to drive business excellence and continuous improvement.
• Technical mastery in nominated discipline(s).

Job description

Ensure engineering services in the nominated discipline(s) are delivered to the highest technical standard through governance and oversight, staff training, independent verification, thought leadership and a total commitment to quality principles. Client relationship management, both external (client's clients) and internal (CIMIC Operating Companies). Drive value creation and innovation across region and portfolio. Build capability in EIC Activities and CIMIC Operating Companies. Act as a guest member of EIC Activities Executive Leadership Team.

Key responsibilities

Mentor and guide the work of Principals, engineers, technicians and technical specialists within the Portfolio's

Demonstrate and behave in a way that is consistent with the CIMIC Group and EIC Activities Principles, and Code of Business Conduct

Communicate Core Purpose and how it fits within the context of the portfolio's to direct reports, colleagues and operational leaders

Influence and drive improvement through the development of a culture of high performance, accountability and sustainability

Support learning and development through coaching, mentoring and sharing of knowledge

Focus on building leadership capability ensuring succession planning, leadership development and support is in place

Work with other key leadership stakeholders to develop and plan capabilities, knowledge, skills and attitude to ensure that the portfolios have the right people to deliver on its business plan

Ensure all Portfolio's activities comply with relevant legal, regulatory, company governance, and ethical standards

Demonstrate safety leadership and foster a safety culture across all areas of the Portfolio's

Create and champion a culture of continuous improvement & innovation across the Portfolio's and projects

About you

Tertiary Degree (Bachelor level) in Civil, Structural, Geotechnical, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering

20+ years technical & design management experience at a senior level in the engineering consulting or construction industry

Extensive Engineering experience across a range of engineering disciplines

Excellent technical leadership skills, i.e. ability to create effective teams to maximise the productive ability of individuals while maintaining a focus on team outcomes and organisational goal

Demonstrated strategic business planning and development capabilities

Stakeholder Management (internal and external)

Risk management skills, e.g. monitoring of risk controls and actions

Ability to drive compliance and effective governance

Demonstrated ability to drive business excellence and continuous improvement

Technical mastery of nominated discipline(s)
