Hartalega NGC Sdn Bhd is seeking an Assistant Manager - Technology (Design) to spearhead advanced technology integration across manufacturing operations. You will serve as the SME for innovation and R&D, driving plant-wide process optimization and complex engineering projects that meet safety and quality standards.

You will lead design and modification work, coordinate with mechanical and process engineers, and ensure timely, compliant deliverables while coaching team members and supporting risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Chemical or Mechanical preferred) or related field.
• 5+ years in engineering or technical functions.
• Experience in project planning, coordination, and execution within engineering environments.
• Ability to analyse technical issues, interpret data, and develop engineering-based solutions.
• Ability to work independently and collaborate across technical functions.
• Competence with AutoCAD, MS Project or Primavera.

Responsabilités

• Break down project plans into actionable tasks for mechanical and process engineers with clear deliverables and timelines.
• Collaborate with engineers on design improvement projects, including studies, feasibility, root-cause analyses, and design modifications.
• Lead or direct preparation of design drawings, process diagrams, modification packages, calculations and specifications for submission to management.
• Act as the on-the-ground technical authority for the mechanical and process workstream and escalate issues as needed.
• Track daily and weekly progress of engineering tasks and report updates to the Manager.
• Provide on-site technical oversight during plant modifications and construction to ensure design intent and safety standards.
• Coach engineers daily, review work, and support competency growth in mechanical and process engineering.
• Support risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZID, and MOC processes for modifications.
• Estimate project costs and monitor spending within budgets.
