Job summary

Mandarin Oriental, Desaru Coast is seeking a Team Leader, Purchasing to support procurement operations within the Finance Department. The role involves supervising daily purchasing activities, ensuring timely sourcing of goods and services, and maintaining strong supplier relationships.

The ideal candidate will have a Diploma or Degree in Business, Supply Chain, or related field, 2–4 years of purchasing experience, and strong negotiation and communication skills.

About The Job

The Team Leader, Purchasing is responsible for supporting procurement operations by supervising daily purchasing activities, ensuring timely sourcing of goods and services, and maintaining strong supplier relationships. This role ensures all purchasing processes are efficient, cost‑effective, and compliant with company policies.

Purchasing Operations

• Supervise day‑to‑day purchasing activities and purchase order processing.
• Ensure all purchase requests are handled promptly and accurately.
• Follow up on orders to ensure timely delivery of goods and services.
• Maintain proper documentation of all procurement transactions.

Supplier Coordination

• Liaise with suppliers regarding pricing, delivery schedules, and order status.
• Assist in evaluating supplier performance and resolving issues.
• Support in sourcing new suppliers when required.
• Maintain updated supplier records and agreements.

Inventory & Stock Control Support

• Coordinate with warehouse and operations teams to monitor stock levels.
• Assist in ensuring availability of required materials without overstocking.
• Highlight potential shortages or delays to management.

Cost & Efficiency Management

• Assist in identifying cost‑saving opportunities.
• Compare quotations and support price negotiations.
• Ensure purchases align with approved budgets and company guidelines.

Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all purchasing activities comply with company policies.
• Maintain accurate records of purchase orders, invoices, and delivery notes.
• Support audits by providing required procurement documentation.

Team Support & Coordination

• Supervise purchasing assistants or clerks where applicable.
• Provide guidance and support in daily procurement tasks.
• Coordinate closely with Finance, Operations, and other departments.

As Team Leader, Purchasing, We Expect From You
