Job summary

Universal Robina Corporation Malaysia is seeking a Team Lead, Packaging Development within Research and Development to drive packaging strategy for new products. You will lead packaging development, ensure regulatory compliance, and collaborate with Product Development, Marketing and QA to deliver innovative, compliant packaging solutions.

The role requires 4–8 years in packaging development within FMCG, with a strong grasp of labeling and certifications, and a proven track record in project

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Master’s degree may be preferred for more senior positions.
• 4–8 years of relevant packaging development experience in FMCG.

Responsibilities

• Support packaging development for new product launches, ensuring compliance with product, brand, regulatory and statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Consumer Technical Insights and Marketing to drive packaging innovation and solutions.
• Create performance indicators to achieve group business objectives aligned with corporate goals.
• Work with regional teams to harmonize packaging practices, material parameters and documentation.
• Identify and manage budgets for operations and capability-building initiatives.
• Provide technical resources to internal partners (QA, Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, Brand and Sales).
• Drive progress on NPDs, sustainability, renovations or continuous improvement initiatives.

Universal Robina Corporation is looking for a Team Lead, Packaging Development under Research and Development.

Job Responsibilities:

• Ensure support to new product launches with packaging development compliant to product, brand, regulatory, statutory requirements.
• Collaborate with Product Development, Consumer Technical Insights and Marketing to conceptualize, implement a consumer-focused packaging innovation and solutions capitalizing on the packaging elements that is structure, material, graphic/aesthetic and process.
• Create and implement performance indicators and measures for the achievement of group business objectives that hinges on corporate goals.
• Collaborate with regional counterparts to carry out programs for the harmonization of practice in the areas of business work process, material parameters, testing, procedures and documentation.
• Identify and manage budget for operations, programs and capability building initiatives.
• Execute programs that would obtain, retain and develop skills to improve work performance and therefore support company growth.
• Provide technical resource to internal partners (QA, Production, Supply Chain, Procurement, ESD/MRG, Brand and Sales) to facilitate decision making, create action plan, or conceptualize programs.
• Manage and drive progress to achieve objectives, milestones and timelines for NPDs, sustainability, renovation or continuous improvement initiatives.
• Approve and Ensure accuracy of documentations for testing, specifications, process parameters, bill of material references and other SAP related information.
• Work with external parties and internal stakeholders to ensure robust project management, risk assessment and risk mitigation.
• Decide on the appropriate technical aspects of primary/secondary/tertiary packaging to drive costs savings, robust operability on equipment, optimum shelf impact and sustainability - and hold primary accountability for these choices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree: In Packaging Technology, Materials Science, Engineering, Food Science, or a related field.
• Master’s Degree (Optional): An advanced degree may be preferred for more senior positions.
• Relevant Experience: About 4-8 years in packaging development or related fields, with a proven track record in managing packaging projects.
• Experience in regulatory compliance and food safety regulations related to packaging materials, labelling and certifications.
• Experience in the FMCG industry is an added advantage
