Job summary

United Overseas Bank (InnoHub2) is seeking an experienced software engineer to drive end-to-end software development for the Digital Banking Team. You will collaborate with business and technical teams to translate product vision into detailed technical requirements, and ensure quality documentation and design deliverables.

Responsibilities include design sessions with architects, requirement analysis, testing, and continuous service improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software development experience, preferably in digital banking.
• At least 1 year driving technical/systems requirements lifecycle from vision to detailed requirements.
• Strong knowledge of retail banking domains and payment systems.
• Proficient in end-to-end solution design and technical documentation.
• Experience in full-stack development with React, Java, Spring Boot, and microservices.

UOB Innovation Hub 2 (InnoHub2) is a UOB-wholly owned subsidiary and a Centre of Excellence based in Malaysia, providing Group Business Services (GBS) to support the UOB Group. Started in 2021 with technology application design, development and support, InnoHub2 is expanding beyond technology services to deliver other business services to support the Bank's growth ambition.

About the Role:

You will be involved in the end-to-end software development lifecycle and support for UOB's Digital Banking Team (which could be projects, quarterly change requests, L3 production fixes). This includes analysis and design to development, implementation, testing and support. You will be expected to work closely with both business and technical teams to drive technical / system requirements lifecycle from abstract product vision up to detailed technical requirements. You will also be responsible for quality assurance of the solution designs and technical documentation deliverables in conformance to the Bank-defined software delivery methodology and tools. You will partner closely with the Digital Banking Leads to plan and manage transitioned deliverables.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyse user requirements and convert technical requirements to design documents
• Evaluate and analyse existing system interactions and processes to identify potential impacts for internal applications & downstream application platforms
• Create technical documents for the end-to-end solution design with accurate details and clear indication of system dependencies
• Work closely with Domain Architects, technical leads or developers to drive solution design sessions for in-scoped applications
• Communicate complex technical issues to business users and other stakeholders in plain language and analogy
• Participate in Sprint Planning activities and conduct Defect Triage
• Test, maintain and recommend software improvements to ensure strong functionality and optimization
• Work with developers to conduct root cause analysis of issues, review new and existing code and/or perform unit testing
• Execute continuous service improvement and process improvement plans
• Ensure complete documentation with full traceability and change management

Key Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree/University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience
• Min 8 years' experience in software development, preferably in digital banking
• Minimum 1 year of experience in driving technical/systems requirements lifecycle, from abstract product vision to detailed system requirements
• Strong business and technology knowledge in retail banking, credit/debit cards, ATM and payment systems as well as internet and mobile banking domains
• Proficient in end-to-end solution design and technical documentation
• Experience in development, preferably full stack with experience in React, Java, Spring Boot and microservices architecture
• Strong analytical skills and detail-oriented
• Able to analyse and verify that user requirements are technically feasible, and suggest alternatives or improvements
• Strong communication skills to communicate with both business users and technical teams
• Experience in troubleshooting issues and defects, performing root cause analysis and providing solutions
