Job summary

AmBank seeks an SVP, Group Sustainability – Strategy & Policies to drive the next phase of the Group's sustainability strategy and roadmap from Kuala Lumpur. You will oversee the Sustainable Finance Product Framework and Net Zero Transition Plan, including target setting, decarbonisation roadmaps, and climate risk assessment.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of relevant experience in banking or financial services or risk/regulatory governance.
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in Law, Finance, Accounting, Environmental Science, Sustainability or Economics.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions.
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Good understanding of climate, environmental and social risk regulations and standards.
• Ability to prepare high-impact presentations and documentation.
• Strong balance of strategic thinking and attention to detail.
• Experience operating in a large and complex organisation.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain external networks with regulators, industry bodies, NGOs and market participants.
• Guide implementation of the Group Sustainability Framework across all business lines.
• Act as the primary contact for sustainability-related regulatory requirements.
• Develop and enhance sustainability-related policies, standards and guidelines.
• Partner with business and risk functions to embed sustainability considerations into client origination, credit approval processes, and business decision-making.
• Serve as the subject matter expert for sustainable finance transactions and initiatives.
• Conduct sustainability and ESG due diligence reviews.
• Develop strategic partnerships to identify sustainable finance opportunities.
• Collaborate with business teams to design sustainable finance products and services.
• Promote sustainability awareness and culture across the Group.

SVP Group Sustainability – Strategy & Policies

Drive the next phase of the Group's sustainability strategy and roadmap. Manage the Group's Sustainable Finance Product Framework and Net Zero Transition Plan, including net zero strategy execution and decarbonisation roadmaps, carbon target setting and feasibility assessments, carbon value chain and ethical supply chain transformation initiatives, climate adaptation financing and resilience frameworks, responsible lending and investment plans, sustainable, transition and green financing guidelines, Malaysian Sustainable Finance Taxonomy implementation, and sustainability, ESG and climate risk assessment frameworks.

Key responsibilities

About you

• Minimum 15 years of relevant experience in banking or financial services, consulting for banking or financial services, risk management, regulatory compliance and governance, or relationship or product management
• Bachelor's Degree in Law, Finance, Accounting, Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, or equivalent professional qualification
• Strong leadership and stakeholder management skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
• Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business solutions
• Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills
