Job summary

KPJ Selangor Specialist Hospital in Penang is seeking a Registered Nurse to provide dedicated patient care within the Nursing Services. You will perform nursing duties, participate in ward rounds, document care, and support doctors and the Unit Manager in maintaining standards and patient safety.

This role requires close collaboration with patients, families, and colleagues, with emphasis on handovers, safety, and quality initiatives in a busy ward environment.

Qualifications

• Registered with Nursing Board of Malaysia with a valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse.

Responsibilities

• Understands and carries out nursing care in line with Vision, Mission, Goals and Objectives of the Nursing Services.
• Works shift duties as assigned by Unit Manager according to Unit’s Operational Hours.
• Informs Unit Manager when changes occur that affect standards of care.
• Receives and handover patient reports with detailed case knowledge; tracks patient progress.
• Ensures all doctors’ orders are carried out before shift change and on taking over a case.
• Visits every patient with the team to assess condition and re-plan nursing care as needed.
• Provides individualized holistic care using the Nursing Process with contemporaneous documentation.
• Reports abnormal findings and progress to doctors/consultants.
• Conducts regular nursing rounds to identify additional patient needs and provide emotional support.
• Follows ward rounds and assists with procedures as required.
• Carries out doctors' orders and delegates tasks to team members appropriately.
• Liaises with doctors/consultants regarding patient care and safety.
• Maintains effective communication with patients and relatives to achieve satisfaction.
• Attends unit meetings and hospital activities; participates in patient and family health education.
• Assists Unit Manager in administration of the unit/wards when acting as shift nurse in charge.
• Implements standards set by the Unit Manager in quality of care, and substitutes as needed.
• Ensures proper charging of equipment and consumables; checks packaging integrity and supplies.
• Maintains and documents adequate unit stock; provides feedback on assignments.
