Job summary

Alcon in Malaysia seeks a Manager, Supply Chain Planning Management (S&OE) to lead short-term demand and supply execution across markets. You will coordinate cross-functional teams including Commercial, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, and Customer Service to optimize service levels and inventory.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years in Supply Chain Planning, Demand Planning, or related functions.
  • Experience leading cross-functional supply chain execution and planning processes.
  • Strong understanding of S&OP/S&OE, inventory management, and service metrics.
  • Ability to analyze complex data and communicate insights clearly.
  • Experience in global/matrix organizations; regulated industries preferred.

Responsibilities

The Manager, Supply Chain Planning Management (S&OE) is responsible for leading and coordinating near-term demand and supply execution activities across assigned markets through the Sales & Operations Execution (S&OE) process. This role ensures alignment of supply, demand, inventory, and customer service priorities within approved S&OP plans and established guardrails to drive service excellence, inventory optimization, and operational stability.

The position serves as the central coordination point for short-term supply chain execution, facilitating cross-functional collaboration between Commercial, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Manufacturing, Logistics, Customer Service, and Regional Supply Chain teams. The role provides real-time visibility of execution risks, drives corrective actions through root cause analysis, and supports informed decision‑making through structured reporting and risk escalation processes.

Additionally, the Manager is responsible for ensuring compliance with company policies, quality standards, applicable SOPs, and regulatory requirements while continuously driving process improvements, execution discipline, and supply chain performance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Deliveries
  • Lead the weekly S&OE (Value Stream Rhythm) process to ensure alignment between short-term demand and supply plans across assigned markets.
  • Coordinate near‑term demand and supply execution activities within the 0 to 3‑month planning horizon while ensuring adherence to approved S&OP plans and guardrails.
  • Act as the primary intake point for short‑term commercial requests, evaluating impacts and coordinating required actions across functional teams.
  • Facilitate cross‑functional decision‑making to resolve supply constraints, inventory challenges, service risks, and demand fulfillment issues.
  • Support rule‑based allocation and prioritization of inventory during supply‑constrained situations in accordance with approved business rules.
  • Ensure optimal balancing of customer service, inventory health, supply availability, and business priorities.
  • Monitor backlog, service performance, and demand fulfillment activities to proactively identify potential risks and mitigation actions.
  • Provide timely communication and recommendations to stakeholders regarding execution risks, supply shortfalls, and customer service impacts.
  • Drive execution excellence by ensuring consistent adherence to planning processes, execution standards, and performance objectives.
Manage Day‑to‑Day Activities
  • Maintain real‑time visibility of service levels, inventory positions, customer orders, supply availability, and operational risks.
  • Monitor demand and supply execution performance and identify deviations from approved plans.
  • Perform root cause analyses on service failures, backorders, inventory imbalances, and supply disruptions.
  • Develop and maintain weekly execution reports, dashboards, KPI scorecards, and risk assessments.
  • Support preparation of S&OE review materials, including execution packs, risk summaries, and mitigation recommendations.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional action plans to address demand‑supply gaps and execution challenges.
  • Manage issue resolution and escalation processes for critical supply chain execution risks.
  • Analyze inventory trends, customer service metrics, and planning performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Ensure accurate reporting and data integrity within planning systems and reporting tools.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on enhancing supply chain responsiveness, execution stability, and operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with regional and global planning teams to align execution activities with broader supply chain objectives.
Compliance
  • Ensure all planning and execution activities comply with company policies, procedures, quality standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain adherence to applicable GxP regulations and approved Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensure all planning assumptions, decisions, risks, and execution actions are documented accurately and completely.
  • Support audit requirements and maintain appropriate controls within supply chain planning processes.
  • Complete all required compliance, quality, and regulatory training within established timelines.
  • Identify process control gaps and support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Promote a culture of operational excellence, accountability, and compliance across all stakeholder groups.
Stakeholder Management & Collaboration
  • Foster strong working relationships with Commercial, Manufacturing, Supply Planning, Demand Planning, Logistics, Customer Service, and Supply Chain Leadership teams.
  • Facilitate effective communication across functions to ensure alignment on priorities, risks, and execution activities.
  • Support organizational change initiatives, process improvements, and planning transformation efforts.
  • Share supply chain expertise, best practices, and execution insights across teams.
  • Contribute to a high‑performing supply chain organization focused on customer satisfaction and continuous improvement.
WHAT YOU'LL BRING
Education
  • Bachelor's Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Engineering, Analytics, or a related field.
  • APICS/ASCM, CPIM, CSCP, or other supply chain certifications are considered advantageous.
Languages
  • Fluent in written and spoken English.
  • Additional regional language capabilities are considered an advantage.
Experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in Supply Chain Planning, Demand Planning, Supply Planning, S&OP, Integrated Business Planning (IBP), or related supply chain functions.
  • Experience leading cross‑functional supply chain execution and planning processes.
  • Strong understanding of S&OP/S&OE frameworks, inventory management, demand‑supply balancing, and customer service performance management.
  • Experience managing short‑term planning horizons and execution‑focused decision‑making processes.
  • Proven ability to analyze complex supply chain data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Experience operating within global and matrix organizations.
  • Experience within medical device, healthcare, pharmaceutical, or other regulated industries is preferred.
Technical Skills
  • Strong knowledge of Supply Chain Planning processes and execution management.
  • Experience with enterprise planning systems such as SAP IBP, SAP APO, Kinaxis, o9, or equivalent platforms.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel and data analytics capabilities.
  • Experience with business intelligence and reporting tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or similar platforms.
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and decision‑support capabilities.
  • Ability to interpret complex datasets and communicate insights effectively.
