Job summary

LONGCHEER TECHNOLOGY (MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD. is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to oversee SMT material quality, supplier performance, and audits for PCB/PCBA and related components.

The role requires a degree in engineering and at least 3 years in SQE in electronics/EMS, with strong knowledge of SMT processes and root-cause methods. Fluency in English and Bahasa Malaysia is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or diploma in Electronic Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Materials Science, Quality Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 3 years of SQE or quality engineering experience in SMT, PCBA, semiconductor, electronics or EMS manufacturing.
• Strong knowledge of SMT manufacturing processes, electronic components and common soldering defects.
• Familiar with supplier audits, incoming quality control and supplier performance management.
• Practical experience in 8D, CAPA, FMEA, SPC, MSA, 5-Why and root-cause analysis.
• Familiarity with IPC-A-610, IATF 16949, ISO 9001 or related quality standards is an advantage.
• Able to interpret engineering drawings, specifications and inspection reports.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation and cross-functional coordination skills.
• Able to communicate effectively with local and overseas suppliers.
• Good written and spoken English and Bahasa Malaysia.

Responsibilities

• Manage supplier quality performance for SMT-related materials and components.
• Conduct supplier qualification, selection, audits and periodic performance reviews.
• Handle incoming material quality issues, production-line abnormalities and supplier-related customer complaints.
• Lead supplier corrective actions using 8D, 5-Why, Fishbone Analysis and other problem-solving methodologies
• Work closely with suppliers to identify root causes, implement corrective and preventive actions, and ensure timely issue closure
• Monitor supplier quality indicators, including defect rate, PPM, rejection rate, SCAR response and recurring quality issues
• Support SMT process quality improvement covering solder printing, SPI, component placement, reflow, AOI and related processes
• Analyse common SMT defects such as solder bridging, insufficient solder, tombstoning, component shift, voids, cold joints, open/short circuits and component damage
• Collaborate with IQC, Process, Production, Engineering, R&D and Purchasing teams to resolve material and process-related quality issues
• Review supplier 8D reports and verify the effectiveness of corrective actions
