Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a hands-on supplier and product engineering professional in Kulim, Malaysia.

You will partner with New Product Development and New Product Introduction teams to ensure clear supplier specifications and promote design for manufacturability, from concept through serial production. You will apply project management and quality tools to optimize cost, quality, and reliability while advancing supplier performance and capability.

Qualifications

• Experience working with New Product Development teams to ensure clear engineering drawing requirements and supplier communication.
• Involvement with New Product Introduction to promote design for manufacturability through supplier collaboration.
• Use project management and quality tools to explore alternate manufacturing processes for cost, quality, and reliability improvements.
• Participate in supplier selection to build a quality, cost-effective supply base with timely delivery and technology.
• Assist with supplier technical audits and evaluate supplier performance to drive corrective actions.
• Evaluate technical requirements of new and existing products and recommend materials to Design Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with NPD teams to ensure engineering drawings meet all requirements.
• Work with NPI teams to involve suppliers in specs development for manufacturability.
• Lead cost/quality improvements via process alternatives with PM tools.
• Support supplier selection and continuous improvement in quality and delivery.
• Assist with supplier audits and drive root-cause/corrective actions.
• Assess material choices to optimize life, lead times, and risk.
