Job summary

An energy solutions company in Petaling Jaya is seeking a Senior Grid Planning & Strategy Engineer to lead the integration of Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) in line with Malaysia's energy policy. You will analyze the National Energy Transition Roadmap and develop infrastructure investment strategies while providing strategic advisory to grid operators. Candidates should have a relevant engineering degree, 8 years of experience in power systems, and hold a Professional Engineer's license. This pivotal role offers the opportunity to influence national energy strategies.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems) or Energy Policy & Planning.
• 8 years in Power System Planning, Transmission Engineering, or Grid Operations.
• Registered Professional Engineer (Ir.) or Graduate Engineer with BEM.

Responsibilities

• Analyse the NETR and IRP to identify required transmission upgrades and BESS capacities.
• Perform regional load-flow and contingency analyses using PSS/E or DIgSILENT.
• Act as the lead technical diplomat with TNB GSO and ST.
• Model grid-level BESS dispatch scenarios for optimization.
• Design 5-to-10-year infrastructure investment plans.
