Job summary

ONNEC Group in Kuala Lumpur is seeking a Financial Controller to serve as the dedicated interface between Operations and the wider Finance function. You will ensure timely, accurate financial information to support business decisions and governance.

The role covers project accounting, FP&A, accounts payable/receivable, cash flow, and reporting. You’ll partner with senior operations, lead budgeting cycles, and drive process improvements, data quality, and system adoption.

Qualifications

• Experience in Finance business partnering, project accounting, FP&A or financial control in industry.
• Professional accounting qualification such as CIMA or equivalent.
• Strong financial analysis and commercial capability.

Responsibilities

• Primary Finance contact for senior Operations personnel.
• Attend operational leadership meetings and project reviews.
• Explain financial performance, forecasts, risks, and required actions to Operations teams.
• Coordinate supplier invoice, payment, and approval issues.
• Support procurement and project teams with purchase order processes.
• Monitor customer billing, accrued income, outstanding debtors, and disputed items.
• Support project cost tracking, forecasting, profitability, margin, WIP, and accrual reviews.
• Assist with annual budgeting and monthly forecasting cycles.
• Analyse variances and review operational forecasting assumptions.
• Support project-level cash flow forecasting and working capital management.
• Identify and escalation financial, cash flow, and working capital risks.
• Produce financial reports, dashboards, KPI reporting, and review packs.
• Promote compliance with company policies, controls, and governance processes.
• Drive process standardisation and disciplined escalation procedures.
• Identify process improvements, automation opportunities, and ways to improve data quality and system adoption.
